Here's my latest work. It's Pharaoh Thutmose III, XVIII Dynasty, one of the most famous of Egypt. The sculpture is very good of Laruccia, rich in detail and beautiful. I hope you like it, at least from what we see in the picture. The oils are still fresh and a bit 'shiny.
Regards
Tony

Yes, a very vivid blue! Did you prime the blue areas with special color ?

(I know red areas primed with yellow make it more vivid than priming with gray)

Many thanks to all for your compliments. The tone of blue is of an egyptian stone named in italian "lapislazzulo". I have painted with a base of Royal blue 809 e Medium blu 963, all vallejo. Light with Light turquoise 840 and white. Shaded with Dark prussian blue 899. Sometime I have shaded the base with a part of orange that is a complementary colour of blu. In the picture I have posted the blu is so vivid than the real. I upload another picture too real and an example of lapislazzule stone

That Blue is kewl. . .

Tony:

I agree with the Cheshire Kewl Cat, Carl and with the others. That Blue is
really so dynamic and eye catching. Your flesh tones, and there are a lot of
them, big time, are really fine, Tony. Also, from the pictures it looks to me
like you've got just the right semi-dull sheen to the symbolic hawk above the
staff. It's hard for me to find the words, I'm meaning. But it seems it would
be easy to get it too bright or the reverse. You've got it just perfect.

BTW, what is the scale of this figure??? I'm not familiar with it, or ha ha, . . .
I saw it long enough ago, that I've forgotten. Ah, . . .  as an "oldster"
that could have been last week. . . Alright.

Your ground cover is very well done too. Great presentation. And Blue is the
word for the day, thanks for the added post to explain the formula for how
you did the blue.

I forgot what type of bird that was. . . Oh no.

Buon Giorno, Tony:

Yeh well, I'm embarrassed to say, I didn't remember what type of bird atop
that staff it was. Not a hawk, as was probably Numba' One on the Egyptians
Iconic Hit Parade, but an Ibis or some fowl friend in the Stork
category. Sorry.

I flunked Ornithology . . . I guess.

Thank you kansas kid, wendy and Marcel for the compliments. The bird is the same that present in the Egyptian cartouche of Thutmose III. It's probabily an ibis. Here is a picture of the name of thutmosis in a cartouche with an ibis. The figure is 90 mm EMI.
