Hi Planeteers!
I'm currenty working on this, half the way done, but the right eye is driving me crazy. Flesh with oils ( Still wonder why I didn't switched earlier to them:facepalm:). The rest on acrilics. Any comments/criticisms welcome!!
Cheers,
Gerard

I see what you mean about the eye mate, maybe you could paint it as a black eye which would fit with it being half closed like it is ? The rest of it looks great though Gerard, nice work

Steve

Man, that is looking really good. I have this guy too and wondered if that eye would be a challenge. I guess you answered that question. Excellent progress sir.

Looks great Gerard, suitably hot and sweaty ;)
Brilliant job in keeping the lines thin and parallel.
Steves black eye could work well with some controlled yellow/purple bruising.
Cheers

Yes, you're right Steve. At the moment it's painted just like the other eye. I guess I'll darken it with several black glazes until it looks almoust black.

I'm afraid the sweaty effect it's only on the photos:cry::LOL:!! (Note that the jacket also shines a little) but will make use of the pics for reference and appy a little of satin varnish in some zones:LOL:

Hello Gerard, Great start to your Marine. Love the blending of the fleshtones. The lines on the fatigue jacket look incredible. Regards, SG(y)

Hi Gerad,

Absolutely brilliant painting on this bust mate. The skin tones are beautifully blended and the Herringbone weave in the fatigues is, as others have noted, exceptionally well done. I'm really looking forward to seeing the finished piece.

Gerard I think thats about the best you will get out of that right eye , this highlighted when the bust was first shown .

The flesh looks great (y) oils the only way dare I say :D expecting to get keel hauled now:eek:
the work on the jacket is superb also .

Ron

Nice start. The Brodie helmet is also a cool idea. Will the rifle sling match that period? They would have been carrying M1903A3's and I think the sling was different than the M1. Someone will be able answer that question.

Great work gerard,i love the skin tones and 5 o'clock shadow,i just dont like the way the eye has been sculpted and it puts me off buying it,you have done a wonderful job however on your version (y)
