Yes guys there is a bend on the axe on the boxart but I thought that the bend on the actual piece was a little to much however I might leave it now that you guys have pointed this out, there is also a bend on sword scabbard that makes it curve out from the figure when positioned in place, don't know if I should try a heat source (put it against the point of an iron, don't tell my wife!) to the back of the scabbard as any melt marks will be hidden when fitted to figure.
Billy that's a lovely example of an axe.

Okay guys as planned, the wife went out last night so I was able to heat up the her smoothing iron, held a piece of kitchen roll over the point and then held the sword scabbard and axe shaft against this and it worked a treat taking the bend out of the scabbard and reducing the curve in the axe shaft, the kitchen roll prevented marking on the pieces and more importantly prevented melted resin being transferred onto my wife's blouse, here are some updated pics of last nights progress:
Axe roughly positioned onto wrist with lead sheet strap, sword pinned and dry fitted, dummy columns set onto groundwork, if I continue with updates on this figure I will move it to VBENCH.

Those are magic I dont think anyone will be concerned about sticking tanks on here as a lot of us bounced around different areas of modelling before settling for figures and we all love to see the figures in dioramas with the buildings and vehicles, Verlinden was a master at that, my very first Verlinden was a Well with the wee bucket etc that I painted and loved, I never put a figure anywhere near it lol.
Am I correct in saying that Verlinden produced some 120mm AFV or am I dreaming?

Terry you are not dreaming, I did His Dessert Rat jeep in that scale, They also did a tank and the "88" gun in that scale and I am not sure what else they did. That was a lot of heavy resin but smelt good??
According to his catalog for 1998 he has listed 20 items including cannons from Ships in that scale

There was also a Pzkpfw II, the master of which I believe was actually made by our old friend Pete Morton. There was a Bren carrier, Panther, stug, tiger 1, kubel and various artillery. I think the only item not German other than the jeep was the Bren carrier. Unfortunately I heard there were some construction issues so I never actually ventured to the 120mm vehicles, they were expensive for me at the time so that would have been my years quota of kits. Of course later Tamiya, trumpeter and hobbyboss amongst a few others have took the bull by its horns in 1/16.

V for victory, excellent I have never seen that one before, great facial expression to go with his fingers lol.
120mm AVF's with figures are impressive, lots of work and dedication involved to see them through to completion and every now and then we see them on PF and its a real treat, I remember that feeling of despair when someone released a kit that was way beyond my budget, it happened so many times but since I have came back into the hobby I have been seeking some of them out and they are turning up on PF and Ebay, still cant afford them but what the hell we have payment cards now.
Thanks to everyone for posting their memories and pictures on this Verlinden subject, keep them coming, its great to see that some of you own display masters what a result, maybe someday we will hear that the molds didn't get destroyed a some of the products will re-emerge.

Great memories ... even today I look at my old verlinden magazines and I am surprised at the quality of the dioramas and the busts.
I have several pieces painted of my beginnings and the bust of v of victory that to part was first that finishes to present me in contests.

Hi Santi the Verlinden magazines were and still are truly inspirational it is extremely sad to know that the casting molds where destroyed and I also heard that many of the painted masterpieces that featured in the magazines were also destroyed but there seems to be lots of collectors/modelers who have some of them and that's nice to know, I am sure we will still see Verlindens appearing on the forums and in shows for many years to come.

A couple that I am working on at the moment. I looked for a good large scale bust of Rommel for some time, and most just "sort of look like" him. Even the newer Life Miniatures Rommel looks a bit off, like a younger version of him or something. Don't get me started on the Alexandros bust... Anyhow, while looking, I ran across a painted up bust that was listed as 1/9, but as I looked at it I recognized it as the Verlinden Rommel bust, and it looked pretty good. Its supposedly 1/4, but I think its a little smaller than that. So I did more searching for a photo of the Verlinden bust "in the raw", and finally found a Youtube video of a guy using it to show Archer eye decals. So I ordered on from Dragon Hobby on E-bay. At the time, $36 plus shipping, they have since raised most of their prices on Verlinden stuff to stupid levels, and now they want $75 for him. After getting it, I made a few tweaks, like lowering the hat on the head, and giving him a little more eyelid. I also cut it into more of a V shape. As it was, it looked like there should have been arms attached. He's the guy on the left in tan. I also made the dust goggles, a must in my opinion for a Rommel fig. My first attempt on them for this guy aren't quite right. I bought another one as I wanted a version with him in his leather coat and scarf. I sculpted those on the second bust that I got from Lots of models on E-bay, at a reasonable $36 dollars! These goggles are a bit closer to what I was shooting for. Neither are finished obviously, both faces painted in oils that are dry, they just reflect a bit of light. Sorry for the poor picture

Verlinden figures have been popping up on the PF forums over the last month or so and over my many years of figure modelling I have completed a few myself plus I have about 6 in my grey army, after a recent review on PF of the 120mm Hun Warrior and seeing how good the casting was way back then, it inspired me to have a look online and all sorts of Verlindens turned up many of which are still available to buy and I discovered this wee 200mm Bust that I hadn't seen before and bought it.
So I thought it might be a nice idea to start a thread that PF members can post pictures of their Verlindens, share info on figures that are still available and where to get them and request figures that they are looking for, so lets see how it goes and I will kick things off with this on that I bought of Ebay for £17 that included postage from USA to UK and the company still has several left.

now it is almost imposible to buy from Dragon hobby on ebay, they have crazy prices for them. Totally out of reality.

Jason I will post some pics tomorrow of the unpainted bust, the casting is mega clean and crisp, this is a fairly big bust but to me the chain-mail seems to be sculpted very fine when compared to some of my smaller 1/10 scale busts that have a much more defined mail, however its has a nice wee chubby face that gives it a little character and the conversion potential is endless even by just sanding away the cast in cross emblems and painting different heraldry onto the clothing etc, when I start to paint mine I will give him a section of shield with battle damage as I think this really adds interest to the subject, when I received the figure I was tempted to buy another one because of the very low cost and ease of conversion, you cant go wrong when it only cost me £17.
Dragon Hobby are ripping the backside out of it with their prices, I just hope that other sellers don't start to use them as a reference for pricing, I got my bust of ebay from Lots of Models, grab one now Jason it a great bust for the price.
The Rommel busts are coming on nicely.
Gabo nice version of the Mixtec Warlord why not get your Verlinden stash out of the grey army and stick a picture on here, I will do the same with what I have at some stage.
Keep it going folks it good to know that Verlindens are still on the modelling tables all over the world, isn't PF a great site.
