Thanks, dudes.

Here are the pteruges, I used Vallejo Black Red. For the shadin' I used Burnt Sienna mixed with Lamp Black, and for highlights I used Burnt Sienna mixed with Naples Yellow Hue. For the actual trim of the preruge I used Vallejo Flat Brown mixed with Vallejo Beige Brown as highlight.

An impressive figure, coming along well.
I much prefer this, the Seil Thespian and the big old Pegaso Strategos to the current rush of "300" hoplites.

The colouring of the pteruges is spot on. Vegetable tanned leather looks like this when oiled.

"Fresh" new bronze can look quite golden when polished - depending on the ratios of the alloy. A slight "warming up" wouldn´t hurt, but I still like what has been done here.
Were the shield rim, cuirass, greaves and helmet were all cast together? They may have been bought as a set from the same foundry/armourer, but, personally, I would still slightly alter the tones of the different pieces. The shield and greaves may have received less care and polishing than the helmet and cuirass, or vice versa.

Paul is doing a geat job on this kit and I´m looking forward to seeing how it looks when finished.

(I´d be interested to read about why black primer is preferred, too.)

Spike.

Marc, Spike and Sebastien, thanks dudes.

Marc, I ended up not goin' to Euro 'cos my work kind of interfered with this trip. I hope you had a great time there...spent lots of money...drank lots of beer...oh and spent lots of money...!
Marc, bronze can end up lookin' like gold when polished or not, as the case maybe; as Spike mentioned.

Spike, the black undercoat helps me with shadin' and keepin' a nice depth to the figure, also there is no need for blacklinin' or heavy shadin' in the deepest recesses.

Sebastien, I know this one is goin' slow. And yet when you look at the figure there is not much to paint on it, its quite a simple piece really.

Hey Paul,
Yeh, alot of money spent. But the captain of the house said it was Oke.
Never told here how much money i spent.
I rest my case on the bronze. Looked at some pic's at the www for new bronze and indeed it looks like gold.

Nice work so far Paul, I thing the metal looks great personally. I am only a new member and just about to start painting my first mini (Seil Roman Signifier in 54mm).

I wish more people would do step by step vBenches as it really helps us newbies!

Keep up the excellent work

Mark

By my standards this is really slow goin' and i'm feelin' it!

Anyway, the little time I had today I used to paint in the tunic. For this I used Vallejo Dark Red with jus' some shadin' applied and no highlights. For the crumpled up sleeve at the top of his arms I shaded the whole colour turnin' it to a very very dark black red, then I lightly semi drybrushed the folds with the base colour to bring it back up. I did this 'cos the folds are too tiny any other way.

Thanks guys, appreciate you lookin'.

Roger, its jus' as well that there's not much on this figure to paint, it looks like the flesh will be next and that'll be 80% of it complete. :)

I'm back dudes! I kinda' been out of the fold for awhile now due to some personal reasons, but i'm back on track with this one.

I got the flesh painted on his feet and legs today, so i'll be showin' some prog' shots and you can let me know what you think, cheers dudes!
