Cheers Steve,
The 11th annual WASMEx show was a great success and everyone who attended had a great time.
We were blessed to have lovely clear skies and mild temperatures all weekend which made it even more pleasant, plus we were honoured to have a couple of intrepid visitors from Victoria, Les Appleby and Brian Thewlis, who came more than 2,000 miles (with their models) to visit our humble show and enter the competition.
Needless to say, with that level of committment, they did very well in the comp, and made plenty of new friends among us Sandgropers.
As for the figures, I can report that Planet Figure members again dominated the figure categories with
Ben Flood (figurelover) winning first place in the large scale figures category with his awesome Samurai Archer, first and second in the Sci-Fi/ Fantasy figures (Luke and Yoda & Obi Wan Kenobi) and first in the Open Busts categories (Medusa):awesome:,
I came second in Large Scale figures and Busts categories (Conquistador and Mayan Warrior)
I was also fortunate to pick up first place in the small scale figures (79th Cameron Highlander) and large scale vignettes categories (Winter In The Trenches bustarama), which was also voted the Best Australian subject by the judges.
Chris Walden (loosehead) came third in Large scale figures with his Pegaso Mayan warrior
.
Scott Murray (khogor) deservedly won his first ever First Place at WASMEx for a beautifully finished Sci-Fi thing (sorry mate, I have no idea about Sci-Fi stuff
) and received a well deserved Judges Commendation for his bust of Prince Ernst Augustus
.
As I was busy all weekend with organising the competition and the judging I didn't have time to take any photos of the figures, but hopefully someone will post a few pics shortly. Over to you Ben or Scott...........
