As I look outside on this beautifully golden Sunday morning, I see the sun shining brightly as the previous nights frost falls from the trees and creates the illusion that the very air is sparkling like so many diamonds raining down on this blessed land. (no seriously, it actually looks like that!)It is -19 C. outside, and all is right in the World.

Congratulations to Russia for hosting such a successful winter Olympic games. Well done to all the other countries for all of their magnificent accomplishments! And finally hooray for Canada, Olympic Champions in Ice Hockey!!! Good to go for another 4 years.

P.S. Thanks to the provincial government for opening the bars up at 5:00 A.M. to allow for the crowds to drink their breakfast and watch the game.

Cheers ghamilt1!!!!!!!!!
The silly grin didn't fade until I had to go back to work. :joyful: I do love my hockey... I'm especially keen on international tournies. I was glad to see Johnny T score the winner (not a Crosby fan... everyone gushes over him but I'd take a Toews on my team over him every time).
Don't forget the women's team... that was some pretty exciting hockey from the girls. Their product on the whole is getting better every year and more countries are becoming competitive... in a couple of years it won't be a preordained Canada v US final every time... Case in point, the Swiss.

I too commend Sochi and Russia for putting on a fantastic show for this Olympics. Contrary to the naysayers, it all seemed to go off without a hitch... all the competitions were great, the venues were beautifully constructed and well laid out and most of all the usual ******** of protestors and troublemakers was nonexistant.

CUDOS!

Most of all, congrats to all the athletes. It never fails to amaze me how these me and women push the boundries of human limits. Being a former athlete (to those who know me... stop frigging laughing, I was athletic... at one time) I know the lengths these competitors go to, to do the amazing things they do.

I count the days to the next Olympics.

Don't know that much about Ice Hockey but well done Canada, the British team had the best year since 1924 I think!

We got something in sliding on a tea tray, best snowman and throwing snowballs I think.:)

Thoroughly enjoyed the Games. Now I like a shot on a sledge as much as the next person but how crazy do you have to be to compete in the Skeleton?
80 mph + head first on solid ice. I recollect a young Georgian died at Vancouver whilst travelling down the course at near enough 90 mph.
On balance I probably enjoy the winter games more than I do the summer.
