An excellent piece of work. I'd stick with the flag: more visually effective.

Happy New Year,

Hi David, yet again youv'e done another wee beauty. Looked at getting this figure before xmas but decided not to. Now i have to get it. How about a photo of each for the box art, musket on the front and flag on the back! Its def a hard choice to make but i think the one with the flag is for me.

I'm pretty sure the Stewarts of Appin carried a Yellow Saltire on Blue, lt's possible the Second Battalion of Atholl's Brigade carried a blue saltire on white. The First Battalion of the same brigade are known to have carried white colours with red saltires, I think these often reflected the colours of the chiefs / colonels arms. Or maybe it's because we scots are just a bit more rock and roll.
Regards
Derek

Thanks for the explanation Derek, and a great Hogmanay to all the Jocks.
Carl.

Dave that is an Awesome figure by all means, and I do agree with you that it is a hrad decision to choose between the musket and the flag, but.............

I would GO FOR THE FLAG BLINDFOLDED because, how many options and chances we have of displaying a standard bearer in our hobby????

I mean the musket pose is more common IMHO, while a standard bearer would send shivers down most painters' spines :D

Anyway it is your choice after all, and would be a great fifure with either or :)

Wish you and your loved ones and all my Scottish brothers a Healthy and Prosperous New Year 2010.

Ray ;)

Excellent work, you have handled both the musket and the flag with great skill. For me the flag is the one I would go with, it's more dramatic and does not detract from the figure. Overall creating a more spectacular piece.
