I'm a very happy man at the minute :D

A bit more progress. First pass on his jacket, I'm fairly happy with the shading but it probably needs a scarlet glaze as it looks a bit dull and brownish at the minute.

I also painted some sacks :)

Re start is coming along well billy, trousers looking good.
the way you have painted the bags makes the ghostly face stand out even more.:)

A bit more progress. And after looking at the photos I realise that there is much to do, he's looking a bit rough and shiny at the minute i.e. the painting's a bit rough and the finish is a bit shiny ;) (in the photos at least, he looks a little better in the flesh).

Its been a while since I took any WiP pics of this one but I've not been slacking (promise). I started to put together some of the main parts this morning which turned out to be a bit emotional (note to self: don't do such a good job of gluing stuff to temporary bases in future) but its starting to come together. As a result of this morning's debacle I've now got a bit of repair work to do (chipped paint, glue spots etc.). I've also still got a bit of detail work to do on the base and the shield only has a base coat on it for now.

Anyhoo, here are some pics of progress so far:

Thanks for tuning in, comments and critique are heartily welcomed, as always :)

Hi billy, I
You have all my sympathy mate, i used to get the same problem of shiny pants etc, and now just use
Either a touch of Tamiya xf 86 clear mixed into the thinned paint on the palette, (thanks for that tip Housecarl),
it goes an extraordinarily long way!
Or Tamiya rattle can Matt v overall, just a light misting does the job, and then selective varnishes over metals etc.
Best of luck for round 2.
Paul
