Not a great deal of progress, I'm concentrating on the helmet for now. I spent a couple of hours gently filing and shaping the initial putty work to get the front peak and slightly swept back bowl of the helmet right. Then adding more putty to the rear peak so I can gently file that back to the right shape once cured.

It's a slow process for me, I don't think I could sculpt larger chunks of the helmet in one go, so it is a case of adding little bits at a timefor better control of the shaping. Tedious but worth the effort.

Cheers Simon

Good luck with this Simon it's not something I would enjoy ( not saying I wouldn't try though)

Thanks Neil, the enjoyment comes when it starts looking like it's supposed to until then I have to admit it gets a little tedious waiting for little bit of putty I know will need filing off to cure. But I chose to do it so I can't complain.

Cheers Simon

Slow is good, show's you're being patient, and will get great results in the end.

Agree there ......a good starting shaping ...this will look really good ...keep that patience going

Didn’t fancy try the Historex spare then ?

It’s a great challenge with the helmet

Watching with interest

Happy benchtime

There are helmets that could be adapted but this just seemed the easier option. At least the helmet will fit well, not always a given with Historex!!

Cheers Simon

Well I wasn't too worried about it before, but now!!!! Taken in small steps it shouldn't be too bad, I hope.

Cheers Simon
Hi Simon

I like to mess with yr mind. Hahaha.
Seriously, I think yr are doing the right thing, sculpting yr own helmet. Keep yr scalpel sharp (ooops I shldnt have said that? Hahaha). Rgds Victor.

I've got my safety slippers on, if I drop another scalpel at least I won't get blood on the laminate flooring again! Be careful messing with my head, I wouldn't want to get stuck in there it's a scary place, I try to stay clear myself!

Cheers Simon

Good progress, and you are brave to sculpt the helmet. I think I would have tried to adapt a Historex part. Good start on it though.....

I managed some bench time this morning, though I am suffering after an arduous weekend, I know what a hero!

Anyway I added the lace on the front of the tunic and did some tidying up on the helmet. Also I added the crest to the helmet last week, it is taken from a Carabiner helmet and will.be textured with my pyrogravure in time.

More nice work. I have to say the helmet looked really good in the plastic when I saw this at Bugle Call.
Cheers Nigel, I am quite pleased with it, there is a plume and chin scales still to add so it's going to look busy or crowded! Nice to finally meet.

Cheers Simon

I've been busy and added all sorts of bit to this fella, he now has his pouch belt and pouch. The belt is Magicsculpt but I used a Historex pouch with a JN monogram, the plate on the belt is the same as his sword belt just trimmed a little to fit. Also the tip, buckle and slide is a Historex piece thinned down a little.

I added his helmet plume and detailed this and the helmet comb with the pyrogravure and added a set of chin scales tied up on the helmet peak.

Just need to his arms, aiguillettes and a sword now.

Cheers Simon
