I´m a retierd StaffSergeant of the German Military Police, married and I have a twenty year old son, who will this year start his university studies for History and Archeology (influenced by his dad). In the hobby I am for over thirty years and in the beginning it was aircraft modeling. My other hobbys are cooking (thai, indian and japanese), music ( esp. Deep Purple, Black Sabbath and other bands of the good old Rockmusic era), and sometimes irish wiskey and beer with good old friends. I live in Hamburg, Germany.

OK only joined here a couple of days ago so in at the deep end.
I am now retired having spent the last 28 years of my working life in Her Majesties Prison Service ending my service as a Governor grade carrying our security audits. Now living in the Dominican Republic where the hobby appears to be non existent. Everything has to come from the States so if you run out of a particular colour it is two to three weeks before I can carry on.

I'm an Illustrator and graphic designer, have my own company "Formas Creativas" thank God I'm my own boss, also I'm a teacher in a really small designer institute in Caracas (pay like crap for teach a difficult profession) and now also I'm professional figure painter :)
My other hobby, play the guitar, love music!

I'll throw my two bits in! I'm a military historian/consultant/researcher. For the most part I've spent my career at the Canadian War Museum and Royal Alberta Museum working with the military collections. I've got two boys 13 and 16, both hockey players. During the summer we like to hang out with the twins!

Haven't been doing much on the hobby front lately, could really use a show or a gathering of painters to get the juices flowing, which in western Canada , are few and far between. Also do 1/35 armor, subs and garage kits!
Cheers
Mark

I work full time as an Account Director in a design agency, I work with brands on large scale marketing projects.

In my spare time I own Firefly Models, in addition I collect military medals to the Royal Warwickshire Regiment. I'm also a regular runner at half-marathon level (I train by running 30-40 miles per week). What little time after that I have is spent in support of my 10 year old daughter who swims for Leicestershire County, she was recently ranked 7th in the County for her age group and improving at quite a rate!

I don't have much time for sitting on the couch watching TV!!!

Hi All,
I work for my local Hospice that provides care and support for people with a life limiting illness.

I took up modelling to help unwind from the 9 to 5 and I'm now hooked. I have a broad general love of history and the natural world, I also like reading, films, music (have a modest collection of vinyls - that's old CD's for young un's), fishing, cooking and loads of other stuff.

The kids are all grown up and are starting to venture into the world even though the umbilcal cord is still attached to my wallet. Must find me scalpel!

But my greatest love is spending quality time with my beautiful wife.
cheers
Richie

My full-time job is sculpting miniatures. The pay is not so good, but I am my own boss and it sure beats flipping burgers at the nearest fast food joint. I am a bit of a renaissance man and have done all sorts of things over my lifetime. They include, but are not limited to: model building (build lots, finish few), poetry writing, painting (acrylic on canvas), drawing, photography, photoshop imagery, musician (vocals and drums), jewelry making, and a brief stab at bronze sculpture. If not for the great expense, I might have had some success at the latter.

At present my main hobbies are writing and photography. I have been writing a monthly column for UFO Magazine (U.S.) for the past five years and enjoy taking photographs at custom car shows. The latter may branch out into painting (on canvas) - once I can find the "spare" time to do so.

Here are some links to some of my articles. I have a lot of fun with this and even get paid for my columns - making me a "professional" writer. Not bad for a college drop-out.

Life is good!! ...... Mike Good. ;):D:cool:

I am a General practitioner ( family doctor) in Lake District, UK.
Working full time - so not much time to spend perfecting the skills. Also too many hobbies or interests to fullfill in one life-time.. And a 14 month old daughter... So at the moment I dream how good I would have been by now if I could sculpt full time.

Going to meet a fellow planeteer tonight!!! :) Cumbria seems to be deserted by people interested in this hobby

Well I served in the Canadian Forces for 27 years, first Armoured Recce Reserves, then Air Force. Medically released and worked in the Flight Sim. Quit that taught in the CF-18 Technical school until laid off. Brief stint as curator at the Cold Lake Air Force Museum, and now back at the Sim. I build model aircraft, tanks, and started figures again. Love most music and an avid reader. Too broken to play golf anymore or do anything athletic.

I am 22, Unemployed, unless you count landscaping for my younger brother, I play guitar for a local rock/metal band, i tinker, a lot, taking things to bits, repairing, soldering, and a gamer, my massive collection of books is currently calling out as they have been a little neglected over the past year, even though i keep adding to the collection.
I have no stash, so i live kit to kit.

Hello Thomas, do you know Brauhaus Joh. Albrecht? We had a private tasting there when I visited Hamburg with the Navy a few years ago.

Roger
Hi Roger,

yes, I know this place. But the irish pup on the other side of the street is much better!! It calls Finnegan´s Wake.
Are you still in the RN? If so, maybe you´ll visit Hamburg some time again and we can take a Kilkenny (or one more) in this Pub.

Cheers Thomas

I might as well chime in here.

I originally went to school for Design, and discovered I hated it. Did some good, hard construction for a while, buggered off to teach English in Osaka for a year. Came home, joined the Canadian Forces Reserve in an Infantry regiment, went back to school.
Now I'm still a weekend warrior, and a Broadcast Sales account coordinator for one of the big Canadian TV/Cable/Wireless companies (Whose name I will not mention as it generally inspires hatred ;) ) . I'm starting to get back into wargaming, and keep trying to plug away on figures, and my growing love of armour!

I'm trying to learn how to golf, but it's just not working for me. And I have a sordid love affair with all forms of beer and beer like beverages....

Thomas, I left the navy in 2004, I don't think there is much chance of me visiting Hamburg again but if I do I will let you know. Not sure about visiting an Irish pub in Germany, I prefer Weiss to the black. :D

Roger.

At the very beginning of my professional life I was a medical assistant at an Institute of a Forensic Medicine. Then one day it was enough and I swapped to another business. Now, since over 15 years I´m CFO and since few years Chairmen of the board. We work for all important automobile manufacturer of the world, especially for GM, VW and Mercedes in the fleet business.

I am married and our son is now four years old, now time to get bored.

After spending many years as a commercial bank lending officer, I was laid off. I've spent the last couple years being "under-employed" - doing short-term contract work for local businesses - and trying to find another full-time job. Not a lot of self-actualization occurring, believe me.

I played soccer in college, and afterward, became a referee, because my life didn't have enough stress already!! I officiated youth soccer for 25 years, and along the way added basketball, softball and baseball to my resume. These days, refereeing high school and youth basketball keeps me in shape, and funds my figure painting habit. I'll keep doing it as long as I can still beat the kids up the court - I love the competitive challenge of being better at my job than the coaches and players are at theirs!

Our two kids have been to college and have set up lives of their own, so my wife and I are learning to adapt to a different form of home life. We are blessed that the Hawaiian Shirt Mafia each have managed to snare wonderful life partners (for American football fans, we've all somehow managed to out-kick our coverage!), and the ladies get along as well as we guys do!

I work for the Federal Bureau of Prisons in Biomedical Engineering. I also teach firearms and SRT tactics as a collateral duty. I hit the twenty year mark this past January. While my son was involved with BSA, I was an Assistant ScoutMaster, and went on several outdoor adventures I wouldn't have otherwise. These days aside from figure modelling, I'm into running, biking (on and off-road) and swimming. I started racing in Triathlons in 2010, and training vies for a lot of my modelling time, but I love it.

Years ago I was a custom car painter and car restorer and as John Long does his Triathlons ... I still work out as best as I can every other day and used to be a boxer and later jujitsu and akido.
