You probably noticed by now I like threads that start interesting discussions:D
Do you have a figure in your GA (or thought of buying) that you're a little intimidated to paint? For me it's the Black Prince, I'm too scared of all that heraldry!
Mary

Another good one Mary,
For me there's three that have me rattled. I keep putting them off for one reason... so much damn LACE:mad:. All in 54mm no less.
They are all Napoleonic cavalry... 10th Light Dragoons, 11th Light Dragoons ( both British) and a French Imperial Guard Chasseur a Cheval (mounted).
I'm sure you'll agree they are beautiful pieces but all that lace scares the hell outta me!

You can't deny they are awesome uniforms. I'm in the middle of another mounted figure as we speak (I'm just having a smoke break and letting my eyes uncross). He's got as much lace as these but he's in a more animated pose so alot of the lace on the chest is hidden, much more forgiving.

Anyway, where there done and the lace is OK they are very satisfying.

Don't be shy... Give 'em a try:lol:

I'd love to paint this. But after Ray Farrugia's rendition of the tartan I won't bother. Still a lovely figure.

This guy scares the bejesus out of me:

Chinese.jpg

It's Andrea's 90mm "Chinese Warrior Kuan Yu 300 A.D."

A stunningly beautiful figure that I simply had to have. But absolutely bloody terrifying. So much so that I'm not sure I'll ever be good enough to do him proper justice.

Every so often I take him out of the stash, open the box, gaze in awe and wonderment at him - and then put him back again.

There's an absolutely stunning rendition of him right here at pF by the very talented "Major_Goose". Check 'dis out:

That's a fine job indeed Marc. I like it a lot.

You're right, it does help that the dragons etc are sculpted onto it. I never buy a figure that I don't fully intended to paint so I probably will take a stab at it at some point .......... just not yet!!

Kirin's 120mm Highland Clansman. Lots of parts to clean up and assemble and lots of tartan to paint.

I couldn't put it better myself! August 1993 when I bought it. And it's still in the box. It comes out annually, then goes straight back again.

Intimidated...Andrea's Mounted Polish Winged Husaria.

I have a few others that I am not so much intimidated by but rather just not ready to do them justice yet

I agree with Paul. There's a lot of paintin' & gluin' here & I'm one very slooooow painter.
