Acrylics What is he wearing?

Hi Everyone,

I am starting the LB Miniatures bust "the Big Red One", does anyone know what he is wearing under the "Assault Jacket"? Is it a "Winter Combat Jacket for Tankers"? If so what colour should it be? I have seen various renditions of this bust but I cannot seem to find any reference on the web.

Some help would be appreciated, and I will keep everyone updated with my progress.

It is an assault vest. Thanks fo rthe link...great help - But it's what he is wearing under the assult vest that is puzzling me, it looks like a "Winter Combat Jacket for Tankers" but I am not sure what colour to paint it, as there are many versions. Is it a "Winter Combat Jacket for Tankers"???
did soldiers on D-Day wear these??? Is seems only the rangers wore them...not the infantry divisions. I am having trouble finding any references on Google.

From what I can see of the collar, it looks like a tanker's jacket, but it might be an m1942 jacket. I'm an oil painter, but I would undercoat using Vallejo Khaki, or Middlestone for either jacket.

Based on my research the circled peace of clothing in the above pic is a "SHIRT, FLANNEL, OD, COAT STYLE"
Its the piece of clothing above (that I have circled in the pic below) that I am not sure about. I beleieve it is a "Tank Jacket" - is it leather? is it cotton? is it a tank jacket - beige colour - green neck?

I found this on the web site http://lbminiatures.blogspot.com/search/label/omaha2 but it judt doesnt seem correct based on all the pics I have found (i could be wrong ofcourse)

the colar of the jacket should have been brown
