To me, this is what figure modelling is all about. :D

A few mates from my figure modelling club (Historical Military Figure Society of Western Australia) came around to my place today for an afternoon of figure painting, laughs and good times.

It was cold, wet and windy outside, but we spent a lovely five hours painting, sharing tips and providing constructive critcism of each other's figures. We had football on the TV and home made pizzas in the oven. Perfect:D:D:D

Cool!

Shared man cave time, friendship and common interests and sharing pearls of wisdom, outrageous stories and having fun!

Good stuff Tony. I dont know about the rest of the word, here in some parts of Down Under, it can be a challnge to have get togethers like that, so well done!

Thumbs up from over here..cheers

looks like I got one of those black blocks for my eyes to hide my identity :-D hahaha

but it was a great day and a good chance to get alot of my oil painting done.

That's what it's all about. A bunch of friends with similar interests doing what they like, talking smack, and catching a game. Doesn't get any better than that. I'd be lucky to get some local friends from other forums out just for beers.

Clayton, talking smack means something totally different in the UK. It does look a good day though.
Happy painting,
Carl.

Tony,

There's something missing: beer! :D Didn't realise it got cold in WA... what's that? like the mid-20's? :D :D

Looks like a good gathering of the crew though :)

Jamie,

Pity you're out in regional VIC, but the next time you're in Mel'city give us a shout and we'll round up the lads for a few beers :)

Rudi

G'day Mark, Rudi & Jamie,

The only thing missing was the beer, but since Daniel is only 15 and I get shaky hands, eyes, head and bowels when I drink, it was better to have a "dry" afternoon.

Believe it or not Christos, the meeting was an excuse to get together and do some figure modelling. It's easy enough to get a few mates around to drink your beer, but much harder to get five figure modellers together for an afternoon of painting.

Hi Tony,

I find that generally a glass of wine or whiskey calms me and steadies my hands for painting :) I agree with you about the posse though, it's always fun. Dunno about you and your lads, but I always found back in South Africa that we'd spend more time talking rubbish and ragging each other than actually modelling :D

Rudi

G'day Rudi,

There was plenty of rubbish spoken but we actually had long periods of focussed silence as we all sat there with out magnifiers on concentrating on painting. Probably sounds a bit boring but if we weren't doing it together, we'd probably be doing the same thing alone at home.;)

I'm afraid a glass of whiskey or wine would put me in the mood for other things;););)
