I'd like to see figures that represent skilled artisans and craftsman and women throughout history.
That is historical figures which are not necessarily military but very interesting and inspiring.

Things like a medieval armourer or fletcher,or an iron age hunter or, an eighteenth or nineteenth century whaler or whale flencer,or a shifty 'cutpurse' and stuff like that.
And there is definately a lack of good dog and other animal figures in the larger scales.

Polly farmer?~I guess someone's gotta grow them but I wish they'd throw away the off ones.:D

Well, reading the replies have been informative....

Mark, like the idea of the various weapon smiths; fletchers, sharpeners, mail makers, so forth.

At first, I though you meant artisans themselves, but cant see why we couldnt have a figure of some artisan painting his lords emblems on shields and armour.

When you all say "larger scale animals/ civilians" what scale do you mean?
1/8, 1/6/ 1/12, 1/24? I know I didnt ask for a scale, but some idea of what scale would be handy to know?

As for era, well, middle ages seems to be wanting some attention.

Like the idea of firefighters in BA gear, there is one bust out there, of a NYFD, by Special Forces?

And lets name drop some famous Generals, and other leaders? Baden Powell? Kitchener (the general, not the bun:D), Winston, JFK.....wish we Aussies had some inspiring leaders....."YA pack of scumbags" Keating is the only notable PM i can think of....

Lets hear some names from your interest list!!:D

cheers

oh don't for get ww2 Aussies troops at the malaya campaign bailing out the Brits ... that some of the figure i want to see

oh and the 80kg koala bear/drop bear in 1/12 scale

What a great idea Jamie, I hope the sculptors and manufacturers are taking a look at this as there are some awesome ideas coming from us "general" public.
I am actually really surprised at how the painters and collectors are lapping up the non-military stuff that is coming out at the moment such as Mountain men, cowboys, and the like.
I personally look for a sculpt that has something special about it, whether it be a certain pose, colour option (uniform/clothes) or something unusual and not done to death .
I would love to see a Jacques Cousteau, pearl diver, Antartic explorer.

Cheers,
Ben

PS- Tony, I agree with your view on the Andrea's Lord of the Rings. Love to see more( I would love a Gimli, to do a dio I have in mind)

Jamie,as for the lack of in larger scales I guess I mean anything over 54mm, or 70mm.
It would be far too difficult to sculpt, then cast the Menzies eyebrows. So he's out.
Ben,love the idea of a Pearl Diver or Antarctic Explorer.~Great!

Thanks Mark, I have just come back from a trip to Broome ( West Australia ) and I learnt so much about the hardships of the early Pearl Diver. If you think our current jobs are hard, try kitting up for two hours in apporx 85kg of suit, diving for eight hours or more and trying to dodge sharks, murder from your boat crew, hurricanes and the bends. All for the fashion industry.
Ben

As someone of Colombian heritage, I'm very dissapointed that there are no figures for Simon Bolivar's armies. I am planning on doing some conversion work on other Napoleonic era figs.

Interesting.....

here's some pics, culled from Google images.

Robert Peary, early Arctic Explorer, & Ben Saunders, contemporary Arctic explorer...

Also, some pics form one of those medieval groups web sites, of a armourer and a arrow fletcher,
website http://www.camlann.org/weekends.htm

and Simon Bolivar, courtesy of Wikipedia.

What scope for fun....

haven't searched for an IEDD engineer yet, but there are almost no mine clearing/ engineers types beyond 1/35 I know about.

Yep, Menzies Eyebrows, almost a whole separate kit....AAARRRGGHH:eek:

Ben, really cool suggestions.....

cheers

Police, particularly SWAT type figures.

A fully kitted out fireman with BA gear would be interesting. Certainly make an interesting change from olive greens/desert tan/field greys etc etc.

You could try this site. http://www.pworld.co.uk/fire/fire-fighter-in-ba-with-child-and-teddy-in-arms/prod_13.html or this. http://jellyfishonline.com/Firefighter-Figurine-With-B.A.-Large-Axe-Gold-Uniform-pr-18102.html These are depicting UK firefighters unfortunately, hope it helps.
Carl.
