WW2 US army uniform - Normandy 1944 colour?

I would appreciate any assistance in selecting the correct colours for the uniform of a US soldier involved in the D-Day landings.

The uniform appears to be a washed-out green or pale khaki, however, this is not my normal subject and any help regarding the choice of colour (preferable from the Vallejo range of acrylics would be much appreciated.

Just purchased both of the lifecolour U.S. colour sets, very nice coverage with flat matt finish, perfect for uniforms. The mixture of the two sets allows for instant highlight and shade mixes.
