I'm painting the sash on the Romeo Mountain Man in a Hudson Bay Chief's Blanket pattern. This has blue, yellow, red and green stripes on a white field. There is very little contrast between the yellow (Vallejo flat yellow) and the base (Vallejo Ivory).
Would adding a thin line oe darker yellow at the edges of the yellow strip be reaonable to increase the difference or will this work itself out as I shade and highlight.
Any thoughts?

Generally it's a good idea to paint the lightest colors first, then paint the darker ones. Other than that, I'd think the contrasts of the various colors should make the yellow stand out on its own merits.

I use enamels and when working with yellow I use orange to shade yellow and quite often outline a yellow stripe with orange.

I look forward to seeing your version. I am also working on the same figure, in a red capote.
