Some more painting today (about an hour). Here is the progression using various Vallejos and citadel inks. Most of this is shading. I will need to lighten him too and apply more inks.
Some more progress. Basically I am done his face and helmet. I went toward the apple green used on many of the first Brodies issued in 1916. I also marked it up a wee bit with some white and raw umber to indicate chalk and clay stains. The chin strap still needs a bit of work and perhaps his hair.
As an historical aside, before I move on from his head, here is a group photo of 3 Pltn, A Co, 19th (Service) Battalion Lancashire Fusiliers (3rd Salford Pals) in late 1915 before they were sent to France. Several candidates for the bust I think.
