Gordon has got around to taking some up to date photographs of the bust which I painted after adding the banner and column. I always find painting and photographing red an issue. The left end of the banner pole appears to have gone AWOL!

Happy modelling,

Mike

Good paintwork, but the whole composition with the standard and "classical" column looks naive to me.

What would you suggest considering the nature of the bust and the patriotic fervour which the poster on which it is based engendered in an Edwardian population?

Hi Mike

Good version based on the famous poster

The sculpt of the face looks very good and the cap looks the part as well

Uniform colour looks good be nice to see a version in blue with the additional ribbons and awards as well

Personally not keen on the column base ..but that's me !

Thanks for sharing

Happy benchtime

Generally, I think a plain base would suffice, as the poster is so recognisable. Or it may be a wall, possibly with some references to 1914. The IWM site may be useful here. But it is always easier to advise than to do....
