A Fixture
As a few members already know, following a 'mini stroke' back in February this year, I have been struggling to get back to the bench. I have only managed to do one piece other than this one, as a thank you for my partner Anna, for her support and care. The support I have had from members I regard as friends has in no small way helped me to return to the bench to finish this particular project and, I am trully grateful to them for their support.
I have always wanted to do this piece, as I regard this as one of Ray Lamb's finest.
It depicts a mounted French Dragoon circa1812 of the 18th regiment whilst out on a scouting mission.
The base was chosen to create a sense of him looking down on an enemy patrol, which his pose lends itself to nicely.
As those of you that were following the start of this piece will remember, the horse was mostly airbrushed, with all other details, figure etc., being in oils, with acrylics for metals.
Hope it was worth the wait!
