My husband never knew the hobby existed till he started dating me. But he is very supportive. He goes to the shows and loves to buy kits for me. So in that I am blessed. Having someone who respects your hobby is very important.

One of the best books out there on Samurai (in my opinion) is "The Samurai Recreated in Colour Photographs" by Mitsuo Kure & Ghislaine Kruit. The book has pictures of modern re-enactment groups which have reproduced the historical costumes. The neat part is they show you the layers of clothes...
