I just recieved another email from Bill with photos of his newest project.

Prussian Infantry Trumpeter that is now being painted – it will be the bookend piece for the French Chasseur Trumpeter recently completed.

Hey Bill,

What can i say? You do more figure's in one month from sculpting to a finish, than i can do in a whole year. And i am painting almost every evening.
I like your work. I am not able to do it. Painting is difficult enough.
But thanks to the planeteers i going forward.
And i still have fun.
But maybe, yes maybe i am gonna paint just like you.
Keep um coming, those wonderfull figure's

Wonderfull! Love the blanket rolled all over the backpack!

I'm looking forward to the resin casts too, as some of it can be very usefull for some early WW1 stuff I would like to model one day (waterbottle is very similar to the Belgian ones for example).
I guess you got him already painted by now. Looking forward to seeing him finished.

Can I ask you how many hours you manage to work on average each day? It must be at least three every day, and eight in the weekends...

The parts should be available in the next two weeks. Brad Liford will be selling them in two sets - a French and German. Each set will contain a complete set of headgear and accoutrements for three soldiers (8-10 parts per soldier x 3). The price will be US$15/set. Yes, you are right about the similarity to WWI equipment. Actually, I was looking over some old Scale Link equipment I had, and they really made some good stuff - I should have not bothered with the French pack - the Scale Link version is better!

The Prussian Trumpeter is not completely painted yet. I wasn't happy with the trumpet I made. It was good for the French Chasseur, but the shape of the Prussian one in the Detaille painting was different. After trying to persuade myself that it was okay for the past few days, I finally decided to rework it last night. He's about 60% painted now - be done this weekend.

I usually work as you said, about 3 hours each night (not continually - sort of off-and-on). Eight hours per day on the weekend would be an average - sometimes more, sometimes less.

thanks for the details on the parts sets! My next email will be to consult my local dealer (support your local hobby shop! :) ).
Probably too late for some french style water canteens though, since I have two hardening in the oven while I am typing this... Oh well, for the next one!

I wish I had the discipline to keep that kind of rythm in my modelling. In some periods I get close to that, but mostly its on avarage only about half of yours (also taking the hours as on-and-of). Maybe I should stop doing two rehearsals a week (takes away two evenings...) with the band I play in? :lol:

Finally, the Prussian Trumpeter (specifically, a Trumpeter of the 5th Brandenburg, Infantry Regiment No. 48) is finished.

I ended up reworking the trumpet I had made to make the loop a little deeper (more like the painting).
