Another beauty, I am already looking forward to seeing what is next.

Joe
Joe,

I am starting tonight a Jager of the 7th Regiment (another Prussian). He will be in an action pose of my own design (no painting to follow this time!).

Bill

Bill,

This one looks great !! there's definately something to be said about the pose...i'm not sure what..but it works very very well !!

can't wait to see the next one,

-Alex

Bill,

I like very much the balance of the pose, and the head completed (helmet and face) look like very expresive. Excellent!!!!

Pepe.

Bill,
You aren't human! ;)
Incredible work, and very inspirational...your flesh tones along with the tranistion between shading and highlights is superb...
Would be eager to hear, how you do your brass...

All the best

Patrick

Patrick,

I keep the brass pretty simple. I like to start by painting the trumpet in a fairly thin coat of gloss black - metallics look better painted over a glossy surface (not spray silver!). The base color is gold printer's ink (PI) with a little burnt umber oil paint added. Highlights with straight gold PI and shadows with burnt umber. I coat the whole with either Model Master semi-gloss or gloss clear acrylic depending on what seems right for the figure.

There are not enough words once more to describe this masterpiece. Just keep us amazed Bill. :)

Hi Bill

Just wondering, when you are weathering the leather boots do you add some of it to the final stages of painting the boots and finish it once the figure is secured to the base or do you do it all once the figure is secured. Aso do you ever use mediums like artists chalk pastels....?
