Nice work over-all here ChanJin! The cape has a slight sheen to my eye though. I Like the snow on the base.

The red is great, but has not many shade's and high's. This in contradiction between the other parts of the figure that are done great. So why you didn't that in the cape?

You're right. The red cape is the weak point of my figure. I am not skilled in painting the red's shade and highlight and looking for some way to improve it. Do you have suggestion on how to improve it? Thank you.

You can shade the red color with the complimentaire color of red the green color.
Mix that with the red of your base color and paint it at the places where the shadow is falling. For deep shades i mix this color with venetian red.
Highlighting you do with a mix of yellow and red. Then you get a orange color so don't overdo it.
When all is finished i usually make a very thin wash with my base color and go all over it, to tighten to colors together.
One remark: i paint with oils.

Thank you very much, Marc. I will try using green color for the shade of red next time. I still have some questions:
1. What kind of color can use this complementaire color method for the shade?
2. I usually use Zippo to dilute the oil color. But Zippo is easily volatilize. What kind of thinner do you use for oil color?
3. What's the best brand of oil color?

Ýou can shade the cape now. You only have to mix the red with the green. Paint it on (very thin line) and fade it out from the deep to the surface of the fold.
1. The easyist way to see what kind of complementaire color you need buy or download a colorcircel.
2. I use ordinaire WhiteSpirit. and i use it only on the brush. I dip my brush into the white spirit and whipe it of, almost dry. That's enough for painting.
3. Don't know. I use most Windsor and Newton serie 1 or 2. Rembrandt serie 1. And some paints from Old Holland because the color isn't available at windsor.
