That's normal, just a different brand or resin. They do use (back in the day) very high quality resin. (kind of smells like mothballs)

Don't sweat it :) There are always opposing viewpoints when this comes up, it's just the classic style guys project the attitude that those that like the half-figure are silly for liking them. The sales figures speak otherwise though. ;)

I myself just experienced this with Vallejo. Ironically green as well! I notice some colours have different finishes and mixing them with mattes would have unpredictable finishes sometimes matte and sometimes satin with a sheen. I'm planning to try the Reaper Shine be Gone and some Tamiya X-21...
