    Just throw my two pennys worth in, I use Hycote primer which I buy from motor vehicle accessory shops and it shrinks back not hiding any detail even if I may have slightly over sprayed, never cleaned a figure ever.

    I have a selection of Chromacolour and use mainly as a base for oils after priming as they use the same name raw umber, yellow ochre etc, on occasions I've used them on small areas rather than use oils. Never had any problem with the colours peeling or flaking off, some of my figures go back 20...

    There's a book written by Michael Wilcox "Blue and Yellow don't make Green" pretty well stating the same format.
