    Completed Southern Pride - H&V Miniatures - 75mm

Taken from " the Civil War Soldier" by Angus Konstam. Highly recommended.

    I think it's only fair......

There are pieces that include sculpting and other means....the final result matters IMHO not the tools

    Medieval figures, 54mm

Just checked his Website. He ships to GB but adds postage fees and has to add tax fees of the destination. This increases the total. A Brexit consequence obviously. His available stock is shrinking - maybe due to the tricky supply from Russia. Cheers Martin

    Destiny - 120mm Carabinier. Waterloo 1815.

The model is based upon a real piece of equipment recovered from the battlefield. To add to the responses before I would like to point to the usual reaction at shows by visitors - but at times at this forum likewise - to refrain from more modern soldier themes because of the brutality of war and...

    Troop54 new releases

That is correct. Without trying to overexaggerate the role of the Nassau troops they were put in several crucial positions during this battle. At Hougoumont they were placed with their light troops in the woods in front of the chateau and blocked the route of the main attack by defending the...

    Completed 1/9 BMW R75 & Crew Ardennes 1944

Maybe you first figure out how much effort will go into the groundwork. Will it indicate the reason why the crew has their weapons at the ready and seems to be slightly on alert - maybe a warning sign or a discarded piece of equipment on the ground that indicates a combat situation or the chance...

    Troop54 new releases

Great idea to do this small vignette about the defence of Hougoumont - as someone living near Nassau I sadly miss more Nassau troops doing exactly the same thing. But of course the vignette looks marvellous and my Nassau project has to be done by scratch one day....

    Completed 1/9 BMW R75 & Crew Ardennes 1944

Hi Dave, due to job obligations I was not able to check my sources before. Jeff sculpted the trousers without an indication if they are the trousers issued for cold weather or not. You want them to be issued for Operation "Wacht am Rhein" and it is highly probable that they should be therefore...

    The Winter King

I read the Cornwell Arthurian series since 2003 and was hooked. The story and imagined settings seemed to invite the idea to put it on film. I accept that a film usually does not entirely follows the novel in every detail and that the characters might differ from my imagination while reading the...

How many is "big-selling"? How "Limited" is "Limited"?

Interesting question. If I recall correctly former sculptor Uli Puchala released looong time ago a set of German Paratroopers riding on a captured Morris Truck (produced by Lead Slet ) with a 3,7 cm Pak (in fact the 4,2 cm special airborne version) in tow. The set came with the figures, the...

    S 33 Jeff Shiu 1/16 December 43

Jeff already mentioned that he outsourced the casting of his products. IMHO the casting service he uses is naturally located nearby - here the problem starts.... Many big names in the Hobby once discovered China as the place to do the casting and hereby increase their income - for a while....

    S 33 Jeff Shiu 1/16 December 43

A very disturbing reaction from a manufacturer when someone bought a large number of his products and displays them on PF as a kind of free advertisement. Instead of a like and a praise our member Hauke is getting accused of buying recasts and any possible flaw in the production is brushed off...

    modellers' age and the hobby

An example (beside many more) that came to my mind when we talk about painting historical (drab) pieces by numbers with (always) the same (boring) result...;)

    modellers' age and the hobby

I am 59 - obviously quite young....briefly the little plastic soldiers and model kits that were a regular part of kid's activities in the seventies turned a part of our "PF-community of old men" later into "serious" modellers. The kits and tools we are after today are worlds from the Airfix...

75mm Saving the innocent Crimea 1854 by TFB Miniatures

A piece of art - back then usually likewise a vehicle for propaganda. In our hobby these emotional pieces are nevertheless tempting for the drama and expression. The historical background is something else. Not much different from today.
