WIP Critique Mitches iroqouis Scout 120mm

Well done Grant, Great start. Looking forward to see this develop. If you had the time, I for one would love to see an article from you on the use of inks. I'm used to enamels, oils and (latterly) acrylics, but inks are a dark mystery. Pretty please? Liam

    What you think?

Hugo, Agree regarding Brunhilde (image 7). Bring it on !!!! But first Bader and the Spitfire cockpit.............as an ex propeller-head turned figure man, its the best of both worlds. Liam

Hugo, No disrespect intended to Mortier, who I'm sure is correct in his comments, but you might want also to post this question on the Medrom forum - Dr. Mike Thomas should also be able to advise. Liam

Gordon, This is a terrific figure which I hope will do well for you. Ordinarily I'd grab one but unfortunately I still have the Grieve figure unpainted.....................dang! Liam

    WIP El Greco Knight

Hi Oda, I looked for the Diego Ruina tutorial under the "figure show" forum but that appears to go back only to 2012. Any thoughts on another way of accessing it? Thanks Liam

    93rd Highlander completed

Grant, Great work on a golden oldie (should that be ginger oldie?) that had been giving me the guilts for years (paint meeee!!). Best value for money that I've had in a long time. Thanks again Liam

WIP Critique 93rd Highlander 1/10 bust.

I'm the culprit who commissioned Grant to paint this bust, and I'm delighted at how it is turning out. Can't wait to see it in the flesh. I had previously commissioned the Young Roman Legionary bust, and the pictures on this site simply don't do it justice. Its a lovely subtle piece of work...

Apart altogether from the great camo finish, that sunburned face is really spot on. Well done Grant. Liam

Review French Light Infantryman from Jon Smith Modellbau

Just received my copy and its every bit as good as Nap's review indicates. I especially like the provision of detailed reference and the 6mm brass rod and angled mounting hole - other bust manufacturers please take note. Very highly recommended - look forward to the planned 120mm Poilu. Liam

"and then it's back to the military stuff for a while." Oh Joy - its great painting as always, but I was worried you had gone over to the dark side............ Liam

    PAINT SHAKERS (Scale75)

As it happens, I picked up another batch of ball bearings yesterday from a nearby bike repair shop - €1 (about 70p) for about two dozen. Ideal for my vallejo's. And Brian, there's no competition, they don't make them in your size :-)) Liam

Review Blast from the Past: Realmodel Drum Major Goodman 7th Middlesex (London Scottish) V.R.C.

Ahhh, 'Heaumerie du Casque d'Or ' - fond memories from 1979, when I worked in Brussels. This figure is one of those classics that "got away" and didn't make my grey army. Always regretted that............ Liam

    StormTroopers Irish Brigade

Chris, Lovely work. I have this bust and am itching to start on it but I have a concern about the validity of the red facings on cuffs, cap etc.. The 10th was an infantry regiment and as such I would have expected blue facings. Certainly, the weight of opinion favours red (e.g. the work of Don...

    Tartar Miniature 75mmfigures

I don't often post, but felt obliged to in this case. I have just received TM's XVth Century archer (TR75-74) as well as the earlier "campfire" figure (TR75-60) and man-at-arms ((TR75-52), each sculpted by Sergey Radilov. The quality of sculpting and casting is, in a word, excellent. Great...

    Figurines 112

I have been a fan and advocate of this magazine for years, despite having only school french. It routinely covers all of the big European shows, provides excellent historical material (mainly French but what should one expect), has invariably good photo coverage (especially with SBS articles...
