Hi Colin
Any question are absolutely welcome don't worry. Only my poor English give me some limit to answer but I'll try to do my best.
Experience has some advantages but also means that you're getting old... Sigh!

I'm checking my trip to Long Island, we should chat together there

Little by little ... slowly ...

cute the putty on the head right? is a structure on which I attached the cul de singe typical of horse grenadiers, it serves as a supporting structure where put the fur of a bear

the smurf is still too backward ... I know that I have to cut it

the belt is shown in lead sheet on which I carved plaque but ... I guess I have to cut it

I cut the body and repositioned the bust ... hoping better

after fixing the body posistion I resculpted many parts: waistcoat, the habit, I added a layer of putty on the bearskin and I positioned the epaulettes (derived Historex)

progress ...

the busby was completed with a fine layer of putty in which I sculpted the hair, the braiding were intertwined in lead wire and glued in place, the cuffs tails have been reported and the right arm was carved in place for accept the blade Metal Modeles

the mane of the horse was added and the sculpture was refined

I enjoy following your SBS. Can you still remove the rider from the horse, or will you paint them both as one piece?

I will have three pieces to paint: the rider, the horse and the sword that will be attached at the end to avoid damage

This is a great scene to replicate ,great conversion in the making .(y)
A little question Ivo .could you have not done some of the hard work by using Historex spares as this regiment is well represented ,bearskin etc .

Having said this your conversion skills are super ,nice work with the putty, look forward to the updates .

Ron

This is an excellent class of how to convert and sculpt. Thank you so much.

Regards Lars

we are at a crucial point, the sculpture is almost over ... and the horse's neck is still long ...

I took the straps from the kit of De Beauharnais, his left arm was sculpted adapting an already gloved hand by MM, added the tassel on the bearskin and the Legion of Honor

have you noticed the chin carved directly on the face?

It 's time to jump the obstacle and move into color ....

in fact there have been changes that I did not documented, the horse's neck has been shortened, the head has been changed, the neck almost completely resculpted as well as the mane

is the phase of cleaning the imperfections of sculpture, sandpaper and putty setups before painting

Ivo, excelllent work. You are clearly a perfectionist.
The shortening of the horse's neck wouldn't have bothered most people.
This is amongst your best stuff.
