Hi Nap. The bicorne is a solid form of sculpey firm built over a rough armature, previously baked. Shaped with a dremel and sanded. Undercoated Vallejo German Grey and then Liquitex Pro (LP) black, burnt umber and raw umber. Highlighted by adding in small amounts of LP unbleached titanium. Its not yet done.

The teclescope isn't complete yet. It is constructed from cylinders of rolled sculpey (brass tube would have been preferable but none available). So far its painted in a couple of shades of Sargent's liquid metal paints with some ink for shading.

Progress report. Bicorne still needs major work. Started shading his left side of his frock coat....I am struggling not to lighten the blue too much. Face still needs work.

And I finally figured out the white balance controls on my DSLR.

Looking awesome Colin. Can't wait to see this one in the flesh, all up close like ;)
Blue looks really good. Love the telescope.

He has the pinched, privilaged look you see around The Beaches, Forest Hill and Oakville... might that be where you found your models/inspiration?

Dude - its "The Beach,"not the Beaches. Got to get your Hogtown lingo right. An you are wrong about Oakville...its all Nouveau Riche out here.

You may be right. Based on some of his quotes, I think Wellington may have been a believer in the British class system....just possibly :)

Looks awesome!
It'll always be The Beaches to me... and the wife, she's from there. The Boy's lacrosse jerseys say "Beaches Lacrosse" and there are 7 beaches that make up the strip... hence "Beaches". The arguement has gone on forever down there but as usual.... I'M RIGHT!!!! :p;)
Oakville I'm not too familiar with but Rosedale, Bridle Path, Leaside, North Toronto, Forest Hill et al has enuff pinched faces to make up for it (sorry Alex:LOL: ).

Is it obvious that I come from the wrong side of the Toronto tracks? Just a sour Poor Boy :sour:

Seriously, this is a grand sculpt and your painting has definitely brought it to life... Well done my brother
