10 years off site and my main project for 2024 is the Italeri 1/9 BMW 75 and 200mm figures from Jeff Shui.

I’m going to put all the emphasis on the subject matter so will do a relatively simple muddy road for groundwork.

Mostly Acrylics with some oils where I feel necessary. I need to look at some uniform reference but figures are ordered and bike arrives today.

Thanks all

Any pointers on Uniform reference for the time would be appreciated.

Bike arrived today so will crack on with that as I await Jeff’s figures.

Awesome, and that set of figures is pretty clean, great set. That R75 is a beauty, so have a "hootin ditty" of a time, I know you will. Welcome back, Bro!

I’m going for red/brown/green camo on the bike on a buff/tan base. If it’s 1944 then it will have seen some action so it’s going to have some bumps and plenty of weathering.

I’ll start the bike shortly with updates, once I’ve got a clean cutting mat

Hi David

Great to have you back after a little break , like the project ,look forward to seeing the bike build up and the figures

Have fun @ the bench

Following with interest but holding on tightly in the sidecar ...

Hi All

Can I have your opinion please on the trousers for these two riders.

ive decided on a Oak leaf pattern for the Camo Smocks (A) , I might do autumn and summer just to add some differential, but I’m struggling with the trousers?

Would these be standard field grey or could/should they be oak leaf too?

Any help appreciated as I want to make it as accurate as possible for the Ardennes.

Dave, been a while since I did this flavour of figure but if I remember correctly the oakleaf pattern was used on the tiger smock or the winter padded garments. As far as I recall the only camouflage pattern used on normal trousers was the printed pea dot, seen on the Hitler Jugend in Normandy. Please confirm this as my memory ain't what it used to be but I think I am correct.

Cheers Simon

Thanks for your help buddy

I think you might be right. In my waffenn ss book I don’t see camo trousers with the oak leaf smock…..it’s all field grey. I can only see peadot camo trousers with peadot tunic but I’m also no expert so any further help welcome.

Simon is right: Oak Leaf camo only on padded winter trousers! For Normandy trousers of the cut seen on the miniatures would be field grey or in Pea Dot pattern; Italian camo trousers mostly came with a pocket on the left thigh and were cut very generously...
