Those will all leave a slight sheen which is best avoided on clothing, especially on a large scale figure IMO. The AK Ultramatte will really deaden down the finish and also pull the highlights/shading together. Best of luck with the rest of it, enjoy the process(y)
.

Thanks NigelR. Makes the painted parts look so much better.

That really does make a difference. It really brings out the textural contrast between the leather and the fabric. The saddle looks great btw, very nice work.

Agree there Nigel ...works well

Only one way to learn bud, take Kev up.on the spare heads, practice is essential but don't over think it. Watch some tutorials on you tube, can be confusing because every one does it differently, pick the bits you like and have a crack at it

Cheers Simon

A bit more work done. Once again, my camera phone's not showing images off very well i.e the plaited cords were base coated Vallejo .994 Flat Earth, then .998 Bronze followed with highlight of .996 GoldView attachment 493877

The gold work looks great Glenn, as does the fur cap and top ornament. One thing I find helps with the photography is to put a blank preferably dark back drop in, I get the craft foam from Hobbycraft. Don't know the physics of how it works but it seems to make my phone camera concentrate on what I want it to.

Cheers Simon

Thanks Simon. I'm actualy looking for a 2nd hand camera to photograph models better. I wouldn't really use it for much else. I bought a Black sheet of card from Hobbycraft, but didn't find it much better. Mobiles just don't cut it for close up work imo, and i've a Samsung Galaxy s23 Ultra.

No idea what my phone is, rectangular with a big screen, my wife's old one after my beloved flip phone without a camera died. Now I have to put up with the family contacting me on what's up, so I turn the volume off.

The iphones are quite good even the older cheaper models like the 5 and 6s, I am currently trying to sell one of each to create soem modeling money - they are real cheap compared to the modern phones.
(I use an old 5s to take my figure pics in here with)

Hi Glenn

Nice result on the gold lacing , looking good

Liking the horse and the plume work ( poss final tiny highs in white on latter?)

Look forward to seeing what’s next

Have fun @ the bench

I did that, but must of had the paint too thin as it doesn't appear to show the effect. I'll apply it less diluted to make the White stand out more. Thanks Nap.

You could more or less dry brush neat colour so long as what you are putting it on is dry it's self. If oil like myself you can put a small amount of neat white and blend it, when I say small I mean nats stuff small.
