I'm unable to paint anymore due to failing eyesight but a few years ago I would have leapt at a chance to paint this set...fabulous!
Wow, great start with the flag, will follow with interest!
Both battalions of the 42nd fought at Quatre Bras, wether they fought at Waterloo some one else can say. I believe they were there but took no part in the battle.
I've mentioned this before but be aware the hose have a seam at the back, it's not a continuous pattern. And the diamonds are fairly big, I hope that helps. Good luck.
Scotty.
Congrats on taking on this incredible task.. I too have just picked a couple of figures from this set.. mine are white metal.. So am looking forward to seeing how you tackle these and I will get mine built and primed ready.. Cheers Smithy.
For these reasons I think it would be more accurate to refer to the project as depicting Quatre Bras, especially considering the unformed poses of the figures. The inclusion of the cuirassier would also make no sense if it was Waterloo, as at this time they were deployed further to the Allied right, around La Haye Sainte. Best of luck with this Steve, a monumental undertaking. David
I put arrows on the strips where the red line is not centered. We see on each side that the width of the white is not equal. Glad to be able to help.

At my rate that's about a decade of work there!
Super project Steve. I wish I had half your patience and determination. The Flag looks spot-on. Cheers, Andrew
Regarding the flag design:-
The St. Patrick's Cross does not lie centrally in the St. Andrew's Saltire on the British flag.
The development of the flag can be found HERE.
Great work so far on the flag Ski. Following your progress as I’ve also got this set and haven’t been able to figure out how to do it, until now lol.
Looking good so far Steve, you've got the layout of the crosses on the flag right, and as an aside, as I understand it, the Colours at that time didnt have the strict proportional measurements that "modern" flags have, so the actual width of the arms is less important. Looking forward to see your progress with the Colours.
Thanks, Tom. Let er rip, as they sayGreat work so far on the flag. I have a similar set of Napoleonic figures that I’ve been on the fence about fully committing to. Your Herculean adventure might get me going on it. I will also be along for the ride, tom
Thanks, Stevo!Doing very well so far Ski, will be following along to see what I can learn.
Cheers Steve
