New project. Never painted horse before. First flesh tones and inks. Colpack undercoated.

Nice start, Colin.
I love this sculpt. Now you're going to make mine look bad :sour: LOL No really, there's tons of gold braid on this guy... right in you're wheelhouse.

I look forward to seeing what you do with this guy.

Colin

PS- How did you find the casting on the horse?

No way mine can make yours look bad Colin. The horse was a decent fit with minimal flash. I just hope he doesn't droop....should be OK with the pins.

Colin

It's been two years with LOTS of travel and the horse hasn't drooped at all. I think the pins that were cast into the hind legs go right up into the torso and the "fore and aft" position of the legs is more stable than if they were side-by-each.
I had a couple of gaps along the horse's back/saddle and the rear base of the neck... nothing fatal mind you, a touch of putty and everything was golden.

I look forward to what you come up with for the leopard shabraque and the dapple gray horsey ;) I already know all the gold work is a lock.

Colin

I went back to look at the horse, which I assembled years ago. You are correct. There were some sizeable gaps. I would not call this a well engineered kit but a bit of putty will deal with the issues. As I said, I have never painted a horse > 28mm so that will be an adventure. The leopard skin shabraque will be fun. This guy will likely still be WIP on the 7th.
