A Fixture
Hi
The heraldry on the chest of the main figure and shield is freehand. The Fleur De Lys on the flag is done with a piece of low adhesive masking film.
The design is drawn on with a fine permanent marker then cut out with a sharp scalpel blade, put in place then a quick blast with an airbrush in a dull yellow gives the shape of the stencil and leaves no hard edge and dries in a very short time, the process is repeated until the desired pattern is complete.
You then have the task of painting each one individually and putting in the shadows and highlights, you need to make sure you put a spare day of your life to one side for this. Of course before you do this you need to paint the main background colour of the flag with all the shadows and highlights.
The red and white chequered pattern on the top of the helmet and the rear drape is freehand in humbrols then over painted in oils. The helmet is done but the piece that is attached at the rear (see top picture) is only undercoated and needs the oils painting in which takes longer than the flag.

Tommi,
We definately need a step by step of your process! What you have done is simply amazing. BTW, what mixture did you use for the gold?
