Good mornig, these are my first pictures of this big (100mm)wonderfull figure of Debra Raymond's sergeant. The face is finished in a 70%,the "hummel" headdress is only primed,in dark colors as the rest of the figure,to create a "Victorian-painting" period effect. This work is the result of twelve hours at the workbench. The next week, more pictures,I hope.Jose.

Excellent flesh tones Jose. I have the same figure from D.F.Grieve (full metal figure) so i'm gonna watch your steps closely.

Thanks, the flesh tones are created with a mixture of brown sand and a touch of cavalry brown highlighted with sunny skintone and beige;then, the shadows(more important in my style) with washes of english uniform and scarlet,in the beard some drops of russian uniform and black added to the base;the deep shadows adding violet and black.Jose.

Beautiful work on the flesh and dice pattern! Can't wait to see more (y)

Jose,

This is one of my favorite figures and so far you have done a remarkable job, I really look forward to seeing you do this one and it may just make me break out mine or put it up for sale!!

All the best,

Joe

Yes,the figure is one of my favorites too, after Bill Horan's painting in the wonderfull "masterclass" book;and this one is for a collector here in Spain,a good friend, pupil in my workshop;he is in front of the figure when I paint it!.tomorrow I start with the reds,in fact more "brown";the next pictures are with all the head finished.Jose.

Jose

Those flesh tones are remarkable! Very convincing. I thought he just winked.

Looking good Jose. This might just be the photo but I thought I'd point out the slight mismatch in highlighting in case you didn't spot it:

Yes,about the beard area (different shadows),is temporary;the left hand projects a deep shadow in this point, when the hand is installed, the effect is correct.thanks, this forum works!.Jose.

Hello,a new step;the head is finished at 90%,as the neck area and the red coat;very dark and dusty, with browns and a few hightlights and shadows.Jose.
