I have been working on this, gents; an entire repaint in fact. Why? The blemish below the right hand pouch, no idea what it was, I wiped it off, it took the primer with it, which then needed to be primed again. You can see where I'm going with this... anyway, I'm not overly fussed as I'm having fun painting the camo. Again. ETA on second figure is next week. And, I've started both the helmet and the rifle:

Now that I've cracked the big five oh! Good lighting is both a blessing and a curse. Another modelling tip is, always keep your paint wet. Working with acrylics needs almost equal amounts of retarder and IPA to keep it fluid so that the dots of paint are not 3D. Which just adds to the fun of large scale figures. Happy bench time.

Nice progress, well apart from the repaint, probably some release agent from the mold that was a bit more persistent than normal. Rifle and helmet are looking good though.

Cheers Simon

Still looking good, the German colours on his right sleeve, did you paint them or is it a decal? I suspect I know the answer so nice detail.

I'm on days off and the weather has been poo, see below... That can mean only one thing, bench time. After I'd moved the sheep from the front paddock, which ponds, to the back paddock, which is on a slope, I was able to settle in to a few hours of uninterrupted painting.

Oh, before you get too excited, I'm talking three sheep and I moved them about 100m south. They're my wife's pets. Those and the other four (2 mothers with a lamb each).

Back to the figure.

Hi there

Ideal weather there for ensuring the bench is working okay

That looks very wet to say the least ......hands up I was looking for the sheep !

Looking forward to seeing more

Happy benchtime

As my parents used to say "great weather for ducks" but sheep as pets, why on earth not. Enjoy the miserable weather

Cheers Simon

The ducks are all sheltering off the water, too bad they are out of season...

For a large scale figure, the detail is rather soft in parts. The shoulder flag is sharper in real life, not the best image.

And the second figure has yet to arrive, must be going via the scenic route from Germany by DHL.

Cheers. Simon; I had contemplated adding a suppressor, but am mindful of finishing it.

Terrine de Canard is also very tasty.

I shall have to look the recipe up, but it'll have to be shop bought duck, only guns here are those held by my figures unfortunately.

Cheers Simon

I'm trying to find a solution to the ammo window in the mag, while keeping this moving. I may just leave as it.

(Both sons and I are licenced, and the freezer has wild pork and venison sausages in it. Junior, first son, did go duck shooting this season, but Mum & Dad got nothing for it.)

Ammo windows in magazines, showing my age now but 'we never had any of that sort of thing in my day'. Actually finding it scary the length of time I've been out of uniform. Not sure what would be a good solution for that short of free hand painting the detail, which wouldn't be an easy task at all. I think you're right just leaving it as is, anybody close enough to see that kind of detail.is way too close to the model!

Cheers Simon
