fellas, this has not been abandoned, merely on hold for the Christmas period as the kids are home, and I've been under pressure to get the garden in shape...
before lunch, and after lunch:
I will get back on this once the kids are gone again.
Ok. We're back. Started on the second figure, did want to have both in a vignette, but also really wanted to have a crack at flecktarn...
I went for NATO black, brown, and green, and flat green over field gray. It's a dark camo, and I reserve the right to change my mind about the colour selection. I left the right arm off to facilitate painting, and noted the hands with rifle will need some filler once fitted.
Quick update before I go to work; referencing the image above, the light green is not very wide spread, whereas the brown, black, and green are, with small areas of the mid-green / grey to fill in. I will finish the legs first before starting on the torso, I'm conscious of rushing this, something I do whenever I find time to sit down at the bench.
Happy weekend, it's a public holiday here & the Mrs is home, which caught me off guard as I'd planned on a morning alone. Oh well, fresh cheese scones for lunch.
All five colours applied to the legs; I went back and touched up some areas as, looking at the reference image, there are "large" areas of colours, not just clumps of dots. Plus, I wasn't happy with the shape and size of some of the dots that I'd done.
I need to go back and add daps of the base colour, and maybe more brown.
My apologies I missed updates prior to today , really good to see the painting happening and it’s looking great , all credit to you , my eyes hurt just looking at the pics !!
Thanks for the great pictures and the explanations
A bit of work to do yet. Comparing the image to the figure, I need to fill in some areas more. It's not a complex pattern, I only need to paint one colour at a time and then I'll have flecktarn! Well, that's how I look at it.
Looks pretty good and I like your approach, it makes sense but I reckon you could go backwards and forwards for ever on this trying to get the pattern just so.
It looks amazing!
Could you please clarify the colours for the Tropentarn?
I saw from your posts that:
Base colour = XF-55 + XF-78
Green = XF-5
I see that there is XF-52 for brown but I saw another brown in the background, Did you only use FX-52 for the brown?
In other news, why not try something a little bit different (a synonym for difficult), as per images. This was three hours of pure modelling joy... It looks a bit rough, but in the interest of finishing, I'll stick with it. The dome, I've a hair cut the same, was done prior.
The look I'm going for is this, and I'd contemplated buying another pair to do as SEK,
I do need to add the cable from the headset to the PTT chest piece.
