Let's go for a project approach, Brian (Smudger) can do the groundwork, Ron can do the base, Brian (Supersnad) and Davie can do the painting. Don can order the name plate and I'll project manage from my (office)(.....mobile phone and Racing Post) in the Bar of the Bon Accord in Glasgow :woot:
I suggest we should go for a Box Diorama of Don doing his annual complaint about judging

Del,i recently purchased the Alexandros miniatures bust of Manfred Von Richtofen, its a super kit, the only trouble I'm going to have with it as I can see is fitting the Focker on the base ,(you know what I mean)!,I'm not sure if Ron does bases this big

I'm looking forward to seeing this one, I know Davie Mitchell is planning on doing it. I think the choice of base will be important for this piece. Personally because of the drape of the coat I think it needs a turned pedestal in either a very dark wood or sprayed satin black.
It's a real challenge, but could be magnificent.

Best of Show is only in the Judges opinion, it almost never fails to bring heated argument and controversy all round, and i do not really see that it proves very much. I am no where good enough to exhibit to the paying public, but I treat it as a therapeutic hobby that I enjoy, and it is my end result that has to please me alone, if someone else sees it and likes it, then that is a bonus. I have no desire to join the Pot Hunting community that hover like vultures at Euro, no matter how good I may or may not become. I know this thread started about Andy Murray, but as it had a content about BOS, this is why I have slotted my comment here.

Really good point Waterman and I bet your figures are a lot better than you judge them to be.

The points about Andy and relations to football teams are part of a very well used joke here in Scotland. We have some terrible football bigotry which we cant seem to get rid of, but most people just dont give a toss.
Scotland is of course delighted Andy won as is the whole of Britain, but as he said himself he won for Britain!
Was shocked to see an English conservative MP complain about Andy on Daily Politics today. He complained constantly, bringing everything round to his party in a very biased way. Main complaint seemed to be that Scotlands First Minister had a Scottish flag which he waved when Andy won. He then went on to decry Scotland for everything and anything. That was sadly very real Bigotry with a Capital B. That's the sort of thing that turns everyday people against politicians.

On a much lighter note will we now need to get rid of all those Fred Perry shirts and get Andy Murray ones??????

Don

I haven't been able to fit into my Fred Perry T shirt since 1979 and I'm sure they won't be making Andy Murray T shirts in 7x....:shifty:

Nice for Dunblane to have something positive to put it on the map after that "other" thing. My lot are from the Dunblane/Doune/Callander area and I have a lot of fond memories of summers spent there. Sadly, haven't been back since '84 and I expect that I would see a few changes.

In reply to you Don, and your football comments I know where you are coming from mate. I am an Arsenal supporter, note that word not a fan. Since moving to the north midlands some 11 years ago it now involves a round trip of some 500 miles, but still i go on a regular basis down to watch them play. I get it ripped out of me in the local pub non stop, by those that have never bought a ticket in their lives. I am the ever optimist.

Relax Don, there are a fair number of Tory Politicians who your 'Joe Public' Englishmen loathe......you know the sort Eton educated and a 'great pal' of Gazza (one of the greatest players of his generation IMHO) in public and regards him as the scum of the earth in private. They lack the comedic value of Boris and the wit of Portillo
As you know I'm no nationalist but where's the problem in a Scottish First Minister waving a Saltire, he is not, unlike Cameron a representative of the UK, so it is a bit like trying to compare apples and pears.
When Bradley Wiggins won the Tour de France there were a fair few Crosses of St George being waved.... and quite rightly too, he was a proud Englishman on his own beating the world, just like Andy Murray.
Mind you it doesn't help when the Scottish First Minister resembled a sea lion flapping for a feed of herring.

Waterman I feel your pain! Being a gunners fan in the Midlands cant be easy. You do know that doctors are working on a cure for it right now!
Worked with two brothers, Leeds supporters on a rig full of Scots, more Americans than Leeds supporters, but they were proud of their team and the fact that the older brother was the boss made it easier!
