Don't know much about the ACW but that surely gives some glimpse of how hellish it must have been there with the smoke and the heat let alone dead and the dying, good find Colin

IMHO a very good interpretation what this war was like that (although neglected by many European military observers) in certain ways anticipated situations on European battlefields some years later. Its final stages even went beyond that point and anticipated trenches, destruction of civilian facilities etc. Thanks for posting.
