Are the straps, rank chevrons, etc., made of paper and set in place with glue? If so, which type of glue did you use?

Yep! it's paper (extra strong for copies) and in most cases it's kept in shape through cyanoacrilic glue such as for straps, bandoleer, holster. If I need a longer time to give shape I use common white glue, pure or diluted such as for chevrons and some parts of the tunic.

Thank you.

Do you /soak wet the paper with the water/glue mixture and then place on the figure, or do you leave the paper dry?

I’m having a lot of problems trying to use cyano/super glue to place lead foil and paper items.

Currently, I’m using a 5-minute epoxy resin. It holds well and allows repositioning for several minutes, but I’m hoping to find a better way.

Thank you all Gents!

Well, Rob, for the bandoleer I spread the cyano with the tip of a toothpick until the paper becomes slightly translucent and hard; I think it gives to paper a very realistic appearance of the leather consistency; then I arrange it on the figure and fix it with some more cyano on the back side.
Actually I havo no problems in positioning ...:)

The real chevrons were made of fabric so I prefer to use the white glue that allows me to "sculpt" it for a little while, to give the proper shape and folds.
After fixing the paper chevron with some pure white glue I use a toothpick to spread some diluted white glue on the paper. It becomes quickly soft but the "sculpting" time is quite short because the wet paper tends to "disaggregate" if overmanipulated.

Hope it helps! (y)

It does. I will try this. Thank you. :)

Hi Gents!
The kneeling ascari is almost ready for primer; he got his sandals and is now waiting for the tiny stars under the chevrons.
In the meanwhile the second ascari, a gunner, is the next to come; he will be carrying a sandbag, to strenghten the position.
Thanks for watching!:)
