Hi Eppi

Great to see the way you approach a figure build , fine references and research , interesting your using paper like Simon does

Will you use paper for the pockets or putty?

Perhaps the upper torso a tiny bit too long ?

Thanks for updates

Looking forward to seeing more

Have fun @ the bench

Will you use paper for the pockets or putty?

Thanks Nap, I will probably use both, paper as a guide and putty to give volume

Perhaps the upper torso a tiny bit too long ?

That's a good point: the torso is now quite thinner than what it has to be but you could be right, I'll try to add some putty on the sides and on the shoulders and if the torso will still be too long I'll put the belt a bit higher, possibly just a tiny bit below the 3rd button. Thanks for advicing! ;)

Great progress mate glad you kept going. I like how you have fixed the bottom of the sahariana to ensure a straight near edge, got to be better than trying to get a good edge on Magicsculpt. My Granddaughter goes to her other grandparents today so after a rest and a bottle of wine I might get round to doing some modelling myself.

Cheers Simon

Yep, Simon, you hit the point!
I'n not good enough to get straight edges and sew lines with putty and these paper paths help me not to disband ...
My one son is just sixteen though I'm more than sixty ... I fear I'll be VERY old grandad, IF I will be ... :(

Cheers!

I love the way you work, and your unusual subjects.
Thank you for sharing it with us.

Thanks mate,

Because of severe shortage of time I devote my attention to a very short period of my country's military history, that is the WWII (1940-1943) with a special interest for the colonial subjects in the East Africa (Eritrea, Ethiopia and Somaliland)

Cheers!

Well ... the more I looked at the figure the more I thought that Nap was right and there was no balance between upper and lower part of the tunic.
So I dismounted the belt and redistributed the masses above and below the belt.
Now it seems balanced, what do you think, Gents?

Thanks for watching and counselling! :)

In the first picture the comparison between before and after, in the second picture the (still poor) back of the figure.

Hi eppi

I think it looks better now with the rework ....promise I’ll keep quiet in future ....LOL

Look forward to seeing more on this

Happy putty pushing

Hi Gents!:)

Some steps forwards and our little friend is becoming more ... human.
Front upper tunic almost ready, some minor changes to the collar (enlarged); I've put the patch lower pockets, that were quite baggy; at the moment, about the pockets, it's just the main shape with paper, then I'll give volume with putty.

Comments and hints much appreciated!;)

In the first picture the reference for the baggy pockets:

Lovely work Eppi, looking at his back do you sculpt the actual panels of the jacket separately to get the seams in place? Really good idea beats trying to make a straight continuous line with a scalpel blade.

Cheers Simon

Hi Eppi

Nice collar work , like the shirt over the jkt collar , the reference pic with the jkt opening low is another potential figure

The baggy trousers work well as do the position of the pockets ...do you harden with PVA before adding on top of paper ?

Thanks for updates ...looking forward to seeing more

Yep!(y)

Yep, he's general Armando Pescatori, commander of the 2nd "Libica" division while moving to Sidi Barani, autumn 1940, just before "Compass"

About the glue: nope, it's cyanoacrilic super glue that makes paper quite similar to resin.

Hi Mates,

I could name this post "the birth of a holster".
From a reenactor I got the right size of the officer's holster for the Beretta m. 34.

fondina_aperta.jpg

As usual I started from a master of paper and then added both putty, paper and superglue to get the complete holster. It's barely visible but there's also the handle of the gun.

And this is our mate trying out his new toy ...:p

Always thanks for watching! :)

Hi Eppi

Apologies missed the latest update ....that holder is just great and very cleverly made and it certainly looks good in position

Thanks for sharing

Looking forward to seeing more

Very nice work, and thanks for sharing your approach. I agree the paper/putty combo works really well.
