Tony,

Great painting, and excellent detail , what an accomplishment.

Have you got a display cabinet big enough. ? :0

Cheers Ken

Hi Rob, thanks for your comments mate. You do need to go to extraordinary lengths to bring out the details in such a large scale. But it's worth it.

Hi Andy, thanks for your comment. It's pretty embarrassing just looking at that photo let alone immortalising it in resin.

Hi Seb, thanks for following my SBS and for your encouraging comments. I'm glad you liked the final pics.

Hi Ken, thanks for your comments. My display cabinet is filling up pretty quickly. The entire bottom shelf is now full of Naked Army kits I've made, which doesn't leave much room for everything else.

Hi Guy, thanks for your comment mate.

Hey Tony you werent stationed at Holsworthy barracks whilst exercising around the blue mountains were you mate ?

Steve

Ah Canberra ,not a very exciting place if i remember correctly.
Just asking as i had spent time at holsworthy during 1988 when 3RAR were there.

Steve

Yeah Steve, Canberra gives "Dullsville" Perth a run for its money in the Dullness stakes. I was out of the services before '88, but remember Holsworthy from when my Dad was posted there in the early '70's.

The uniform worn by this Naked Army soldier is more or less typical of most Australian infantry in field dress from the 60's through to the mid 80's, when they switched from greens to Auscam, and replaced the SLR with the Steyr.

Hrrrrumph!

Come, come Tony - be nice. It is a great place to live these days. Plenty to do and centrally placed to many areas in SE Australia. Being a Perth boy I chose Canberra over it to retire. Perth is so far from everywhere and Sydney and Melbourne are far too big and traffic bound for me.

Cheers
Chris

Tony,

Fantastic work and great looking detail work especially on the hands!
I only have to impression that the pupils are a little bit to small, but maybe it's me.
This is a huge piece and on of your best!

Regards,
Marcel.

Tony,
I'm glad you were able to find the time to finish this figure.
It's been a great project from the start with your inspired idea of changing heads which was well executed by the way.
It's a great result,beautifully painted.
My only points of criticism would be too much red in the lip colour and I'd like to see some dirt under those fingernails.
A small point I know but I'm sure you'd agree that it's those small details that can make a figure.
Cheers,mate and well done again!

Thanks to you all for your encouragement and suggestions.:):):)

I'll certainly take all your suggestions on board and make the changes.;)

Daniel, the waxy look on his chest is supposed to represent sweat.
Mark,

I'll fix the lips and the clean fingernails ASAP - you're right.

As for you Chris, I'm afraid you've confirmed my point about the dullness of Canberra.

People from Dullsville go there to retire.:D:D:D

Outstanding job in all regards, and a depiction of too often over looked Aussie troops during the Vietnam war. Two other points, he LOOKS like an Aussie (not one ethnicity I know, but you get what I mean), and as though he is actually sweating it out in the jungle.

Wonderful job M8!

Hi Tony, awesome model, I recently purchase the same model but the face is slightly different. I am new to figure modelling and I would love to paint my model with a reasonable end result as it will be a present for my son who is in the army in Darwin. I have painted a couple of horror models with automotive paints but searching the web I have noticed that different people use acrylics, pastels and oil washes on their models and instead of an airbrush a paint brush. I was wondering if you had time to give me some advice on the colours to use and technique, would be very much appreciated.
