3rd Regiment, Australian Light Horse at Gallipoli in 1915. This is a brand new figure from Michael Roberts and their first release in 75mm. This figure was sculpted by Alan Ball and includes the section of trench. I painted this example, for the box art, using oils over an acrylic undercoat. I will be writing a detailed review for Historical Miniatures Magazine.

Leigh, you are right, he is clean. When painting for box art my finished piece is usually a bit different than if I were just painting it for myself. I have to present a clear representation of what is in the box.

I would like to do another one and convert him to a Lancashire Fusiler. Dirty him up, embellish the groundwork, add some wire, litter the floor of the trench with debris, and so on!

(y) Nice one by Alan Ball, and I like the way you painted it - I saw more of your work on The Fuselier's website, when you hear "WWI" you think about mud and drabness, but with your painting you have a way of making that subject interesting and attractive. (y) (y) (y)

Hi Kreston
Modern warfare is not really my thing, but I recognize
a well posed and nicely painted figure when I see one.

Frank (y) (y)

Has anyone seen the film "The Light Horse Men"
I saw it on video many years ago, don't know if it is available
on DVD.
