Thanks Colin! Yep, creepy it will be.. just now really :)

Thank you Marc!

Thanks Adrian -yep, we as figure/ diorama makers can't get any colourful skies to cheer up our dioramas a bit -but we can do some great waters for this purpose :)

Thanks Steve! Wait for the final pics.. just now

Thank you Nick

My apologizes for the late in this thread. I had some very urgent work to do and this blog lagged behind. Antyway, the diorama is now finished
It took me almost one week to come up with those and they are not even that good. Fact is, as the water is see through, if i put the small diorama under a black background, the water appears to be black while it's a mix between dark tan and sky blue.
So I mostly had to arrange things so that the diorama was laid at a 45° angle so that a few light could pass through the underside.
I wonder wether it would be a good idea to make some chicken legs feet to the base so that the diorama would be displayed at roughly 5 cm from the ground. There fore I would always have light from the underside. More to think..

Looking real good. I have read the story and followed your progress... fascinating vignette.

Have you perhaps thought of a small light source on the bottom of the base? LEDs are small and bright enough and don't give much heat, so I guess the clear resin would be safe?

Hey Mario thanks for your comment! The perfect occasion to tell you a small story.
Last year I was at SMC Eindhoven and was privileged enough to talk a few minutes with Marijn Van Gills in front of a Coke can. Then one hour later I saw him unplug and undo his "schh" diorama (you know the one in a box with a girl on a bed) to show how it worked to a common friend.
That one made a tilt to me, I realized that the only flaw I could see in MVG's work was that *it needed an external source of light controlled by its creator in order to work completely*.
Well this works against one of my motos: a diorama must come with its own light within and must not rely on anything else than itself. That is no battery, nothing.
So yes your idea is quite good, but when I am going to show this diorama at shows the light that will pour from under the water will be the light of the show -as rotten as those probably will be ;)
I really want the people to see my stuff with their own eyes under so many different conditions that in the end, everybody will see something unique :)

I understand your point. The only solution that could work fairly well then is to somehow lift the base and the vignette from the table. Your "chicken legs idea" sounds good as it would give a reference to Baba Yaga legend. But I'm wondering if the legs themselves would obscure the light. Hmm...

Thank you Carl!

Thin legs Mario? I wondered today if I should use some rusty screws or something.. more to think!
