Hi, this is my work on the bench.
It is my third bust and a very difficult one to me. I am now painting the head.
I have mistery to solve: what are the two small pieces meant to represent? Where should I place them?
Any help is welcome.
Thank you.
Luca

Hi Luca

Nice to see this in V Bench , good start

As for the small pieces ...possibly part of the flower she holds ?

Following with interest

Happy benchtime

Hi Nap and VerSacrum
the flower looks yet fully sculpted to me.

The triangular lotus could perhaps be a counterweight for the necklace. The circle - an earring?

Yesterday I started a conversation with Jamie who worked on the same bust some time ago. Maybe he placed them, I can’t see them on his post.

Thank you for your help.

Have a nice weekend

Very nice work so far, good on you for making the cloth somewhat translucent, always an interesting challenge. I can't help on the additional.bits but the Egyptians were fond of talismans and ornamentation. Good start on the glass work on the necklace.

Cheers Simon

Hi Simon,
thank you for your appreciation. The riddle about the additional parts was solved and I painted them as necklace counterweight and earring.
I am learning a lot about old Egyptian Art with this mini and hopefully this will help with the remaining decorative elements.
Cheers

Hi Planeteers, here is my painting update and a doubt, as usual.
What is this separation of hair?
I saw that some have interpreted it as a breakup to be repaired.
I believe that it could instead be a separation desired by the sculptor to give dynamism to the figure who is dancing.
What do you think?

Not sure on that, I'd say a break in the hair given the braid and heavy ornaments but can't really see from the picture. I doubt it would have been released with such a glaring fault.

Cheers Simon

I agree with Simon , it’s the way the hairs been sculpted ...movement with the ornaments...you could use putty to fill but I reckon it’s as Simon say

This is coming along nicely

Happy benchtime

Hi Nap,
I am still working on the hair, I have chosen a browny black as more similar to Egyptian black hair.

As for the head band I plan to get some inspiration from a book about Ancient Egypt jewellery I am reading.
It is a very rich thorough text with many lavish pictures.

Maybe it could be useful to other painters too?
