This system works well at ingolstadt, the thing is if you are known then there is no escape , win in the standard and you step up to the big boys class.
They won't stop you from entering in the previous class but the shame is on you if you do , and there is at least one who does :)
Del stepped up last year and done well in the top tier .
It is a great way of upping your game .

Surely the Euro weekend is not all about a competition.Personally it's the whole package i go for.Stop the competition and just make it a display and i would still go.Keep the competition and take any other parts of Euro away e,g, traders or the meeting up with like minded people etc,and i wouldn't bother going

I like to see other peoples models, the work and effort they put into it. that's what does it for me. also adding to the ever present stash, which I keep trying to avoid doing/badger

Hi Nap
While attending the Antwerp show a few years back, they had a different system.
There were three categories. Beginners, Intermediates and Masters. You made up a display of all you pieces and they would be judged, with individual pieces being selected for awards.
If you won gold in the Beginners, you would move to the intermediate class, and Intermediate to Master.
You have to rely on folk being honest though, we saw a number of very well painted pieces in the Beginners class, obviously not Beginners, but someone purely pot hunting.
I believe this system was considered for Euro, and but from what i heard the majority of folk preferred to keep it, as it is.
Have you thought of putting your ideas to the show organizers to see what they think? It can't hurt to ask.

If somebody came in for the first time and he think that he was a Beginner, he could his figures with the beginners. (I know Ronnie (Revenge) whas the first time into the competition and knocked everybody out. He whas a beginner)
The next year he skipped the Intermediates and put his figures at the Masters. Fair and good.

This is a good system Marc, works well at Ingolstadt too, encourages all modellers to have a go.

Marc , In my opinion"not worth much" I may add :) There should be a category for Pro's at Euro then everyone on P&P could enter because as far as I can see they declare to be Pro's
That would leave room for lesser mortals :D

I didn't know there were different levels of modellers,i thought we were all the same? I don't like the idea of thinking I am better than a beginner,i think to categorise people like this will discourage people from taking part. we need to encourage people to take part to keep the hobby progressing forward.
