I got this book and I am in process of reading it. It is quite interesting, both in reading and application- while a bit more geared towards an airbrush artist. Because Mr. Castro is a fine, accomplished artist with great old masters training (Art Students League - the best place for learning and practicing figurative art in US) his book delivers clear concepts, fine explanation for his approaches and beautifu examples of his art of miniature figure painting. I got to practice so far the priming method - this technique of priming with Krylon silver and then another coat of acrylic primer is definitely a method to be tried! One serious shortcoming is the sorrely missed lack of mounted figures and equine painting methods and techniques. The book can be purchased for quite less than the list price at many discount stores, e.g. at Wallmart or other interent based discount stores - paid $20 for it.
