Hey All,

Had a tragic ‘CRASHING’ happen yesterday, that took out an old figure I had created 10 years ago... (Another reason to dislike cats). It was broken beyond repair, so I got out the grinder and took it down to basics, pop the joints and rearticulated the body to start a new figure.

I am going o create a figure title “Guardian” and using the obscure story from II Samuel 23:20 about one of King David of Israel’s Mighty Men (the Captain of his Bodyguard – hence the title) as the base for a Ancient Israelite Warrior

“Benaiah chased a lion down into a pit. Then, despite the snow and slippery ground, he caught the lion and killed it.” II Samuel 23:20

I will try to take pictures and keep you updated.

Neill, Great idea for a sculpt, the fact that the cat killed the original model wouldn't have anything to do with your choice of subject, would it ?;)
Nice pose, I assume his leg will be resting on the dead cat, sorry Lion.:)
Looking forward to following it's progress. Thanks for showing.

Cheers Ken

Thanks Ken,

Whenever I think of cats I think of LOVE... not for cats, but for my wife and daughters, to whom the cats belong. I must love them a lot! (See movie "Cats & Dogs" for truth behind those felines. You all have been warned!)

Got inspired by a book called “in a pit with a Lion on a snowy day” by Mark Batterson

based on Benaiah’s story. Not sure about the lion right now. Did a preliminary dead lion and well you will note you did not see a picture of it. We shall see….

John

PS: And maybe I can finish up all those other projects that are cluttering my desk.

Update 4/17/09

Updated a little today... enjoyed a few hours of work time.

Modified idea with a little scale armor, found good research evidence that the tribes of the area from Hittite down to Egypt were using various types of scale armor by the time of King Saul and King David.

More tomorrow I hope....

Progressing well, particularly as a recovered figure. The build up is good to see. Good sketch work by the way.
Gives me hope for a figure or two in the tomb of the abandoned figure. Cheers

Thanks Mate - it is turning out much better then the oringial figure.

I understand the "a figure or two in the tomb of the abandoned figure" idea... have a small box full of partial, completed and broken stuff
