Hi Dennis,
I am going to give it a good go mate, I'm off Tuesday and Wednesday so I plan to put a few hours in, it all depends after that how much time I can commit. What ever the position I think I will bring it along.
cheers
Richie

Excellent work Richie,I'd love to know how you do them loops,it's coming together very nicely now, looking forward to seeing it completed,:)

Brian

Hi Brian,
Thanks for the compliment I appreciate that from a man of your skill. The loops are quite easy it's just a lot of cursing and swearing. Whether I do braid loops or Austrian knots on the cuffs I always use the same method.
All I do is roll out very thin pieces of milliput cut them to a length slightly more than I need, I use a cocktail stick and a fine dampened brush to pick them up them up and locate one end. I then use the brush to hold the middle/inner while I tease the milliput round with the cocktail stick. Then a light brush over with the dampened brush and trim if required. I find milliput is better as it is a touch more tacky. Hope this helps.
cheers

How small a scale have you used this method on? I know these figs are pretty big but would this method be viable at 75 or 54mm?

Hi Richie,
Nice progress Mate. The groundwork is another triumph....it's becoming your signature!!!
Looking forward to the addition of the tack. Are you making the bit, buckles etc. yourself?
All the best,
Keith

Hi Keith,
Cheers mate, that horse hair does make nice grass (not that I've ever smoked it:ROFLMAO:). I will see what stock parts I have first, this will help speed things up, but if I don't have it it will need to be made. I've been putting another wash of oils on the horse and cracking on with the two figures today, same tomorrow hopefully. I really need to tidy up my sculpting though especially finishing off, there are quite a few flaws under the optivisor.
cheers
Richie

Colin I have sent you a PM.

Grass Speed Crack, what are you like? I know you have a few days off but...........:hungover:
Enjoy.

Hi All,
This has been languishing on the bench for far too long now. One of the main reasons was I did not like the faces and the head of Buller looked far too rough. This was down to me not cleaning up my conversion enough, so I have changed the head completely and started to re-paint the other face in oils. I have done a little bit more work on the D'Arcy figure and horse, but I have this in my sights again and want to complete this now. The second reason is Colin (ChaosCossack) keeps poking me in my chimp ribs on some of my other posts:) thanks for the push Colin mate.(y)
cheers
Richie

Where does one buy a rig like this? I have an odd feeling I need one of these set-ups in my basement... sans monkey of course. I'll find someone to take his place... Shhhhhhh
Mate those scars really do work for you......best of luck Colin and greatest of respect.

Hi Richie,
these boys are really coming along nicely and slowly. If you take any longer with your projects you will be down with me in tn the slow brigade.
The head change was a major move but it looks really good, it works for me.
All the very best,
Keith

I'm not even going to dignify that with answer in case I get roped in as an accomplice:ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Nice so far Richie, I like the dusty appearance of the blue tunic and leather work.

Steve

Hi Steve,
Glad you noticed mate, sometimes you do a lot of work and it looks like you have done nothing when looking at the photo's
cheers
Richie

Hi Keith,
I'm glad you approve of the head change, my sculpting has improved since starting this and I would do a lot of things different. But both heads had me at a stop. Mate I don't mind joining the slow brigade were do I sign for my shilling.;)
cheers

Thanks for the tips on the loops mate,it's coming along very nicely,I've followed your work for some time and I love the way you get kits and change or convert to tell your stories,I think it's about time you did Isandawana with 50 figures mounted and foot,I know you can do it :),only joking !,look forward to seeing this finished,I'd like to meet you and have a good old chat !

I am sure that you must be close to 50 Zulu Wars Europeans already Richie,
So Brian is not so wide of the mark. Get working on those extra Zulus Mate.
I can see it now....About an 8' X 4' base with Isandlwana at one end a little time slip in the middle and Rorkes Drift at the far end.
I am sure that Christine will not mind you turning the dining room table into a Diorama........May be.:cautious:
All the very best Mate,
Keith

Brian, Keith,
You two don't know how true that nearly was, I ask Steve Readdie if he would cast me 20,000 Zulu warriors but he said he only had time to cast 4,000 due to other commitments, so I'm now making Rorke's Drift:ROFLMAO:. I would love to do a big Zulu war scene in the style of Dr Force (Dave Forsey) but I just don't have the space.
cheers
Richie

Brian - Are you planning on going to the White Rose this year? Would love to meet up for a chat.
Keith - I'll take that Queen's shilling mate(y)
