Delivered by Mr Postie this morning from Graham at CGS Military Figures this superb 200mm bust sculpted by David Grieve who I had dealings with back in 1981 with his 1/3oth, I think it was, Brigade of Guards and Household Cavalry figures.

I have cleaned him up, which was next to nothing, and washed him and then when dry fixed him to the supplied base.

It will be a few days before I can prime him so roll on next week.

Cheers
Geoff

Thanks Guys I am so looking forward to starting him after our few days away, but it may be tomorrow but I have a hospital appointment but may manage a couple of hours in the morning, if not it should be Tuesday.

Is that the Speakman bust Nap?, if so I agree mate.

Cheers

Hi Geoff

Look forward to seeing this come to life from you , the pensioner isn't the Speakman one , Carole got it from Debra Raymond when she had the DG series ...it's nice

Hope all goes well at appointment ...stay clear of the nurses ...and put the gown on the right way round ....LOL

A few hours progress yesterday morning on the eyes and giving the bonnet a wash over with Citadel Nuln Oil Shade and the plume and hair with Agrax Earth Shade.

This morning I painted the face in my usual Artist's Oils.

The face was sculpted beautifully which really helped to highlight.

This will now be left until tomorrow to allow to dry before starting with the Vallejo acrylics on the rest of the bust.

Cheers
Geoff.

Hi Geoff

That's a fine start on this fellow , like the eyes on him

Looking forward to seeing more

What's this Nuln Oil you are using ...a very dark gray ?

Happy benchtime

Thanks Nap,

It is a wash, I suppose it is a black/grey and it is used straight from the bottle and it is just like water so it flows into all the crevasses and gives the effect you see on the bonnet when dry. I love it over a white primer which I use. I use it or the Earth one over brass, gold and steel/silver to give depth before adding a light coat, I did it that way as in the Lancer Helmet.

Thanks Mate,

The skin tones are the same as the previous pics, perhaps the lighting is different.

The hair is just the Citadel earth wash over the white primer, I like it but may have to add some colour or another coat of the wash.

I think I will get the tartan done next, get it out of the way.

Cheers

He's looking great Geoff, what red did you use for the tunic? I don't think it'll affect how you paint it but the bonnet is ostrich feathers not fur.
Brilliant work, all the best.
Scotty.

Many thanks Scotty, I used, as a base, Vallejo Flat Red I shall go over some of it will a couple of thinned coats of Scarlet to bring out the the higher parts.
